Sand.

Salt sand.

Surf-sounded, soft, solid sand.

Sun splashed, sodium-seasoned sand.

Shifting, sifting, smooth, stable shore-sand

Swirling, stinging, swift-stabbing, shining, shaping, swinging, swimming sand.

Most nearly everlasting universal fragment of earth.

Sea-scouring, several sided,

Sweat-scented,

Sand.

3rd Stanza of “Under His Wings”

 

Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life’s trials are o’er;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,
Resting in Jesus, I’m safe evermore.

 

William Orcut Cushing died this date 1902, in NY.  He also wrote “Ring the Bells of Heaven,” “Follow On,” and “Hiding in Thee.”
