Years have now past since He was seen last,
In Jerusalem or Bethany.
His step in the land, is not on the sand,
At Jordan or blue Galilee.
Some men have said (they’re long since dead)
That He would be forgot.
Where are they now – who were they, anyhow?
I’d like to tell them a lot.
That Life has changed, that Influence ranged,
To men of every clime.
And even the date, is not by fate,
But according to His time.
He didn’t publish a book, notes He never took;
A few sermons He gave,
On justice and peace, joy that will not cease,
And, words on how to behave.
His travel was small, not far at all,
His life – an untimely end.
But enough to reach, ole time to breach
Centuries, the story to send.
So there in part, weak rhyme, less art,
Are thoughts on my Lord.
This season of the year, praise to Him so dear
The Living Eternal Word. -eab, 12/1968
Written while teaching literature at Hobe Sound Bible College when, Steve D Herron was president.

“The Lord Will Come and Not Be Slow” (stanzas 3-6)
Rise, God, judge Thou the earth in might,
This wicked earth redress;
For Thou art He who shalt by right
The nations all possess.
The nations all whom Thou hast made
Shall come, and all shall frame
To bow them low before Thee, Lord!
And glorify Thy Name!
Truth from the earth, like to a flower,
Shall bud and blossom then,
And justice, from her heavenly bower,
Look down on mortal men.
Thee will I praise, O Lord, my God!
Thee honor and adore
With my whole heart; and blaze abroad
Thy Name forevermore!
John Milton was born this date, 12/9/1608, in London. He is known for his Paradise Lost (1667), Paradise Regained(1671). Religiously John moved from Anglican to Presbyterian to Independent.
