Lpost

 From the Pastor’s Desk

Hope you had a good week last week (it ended last night, you know).

If the week was wonderful, good, or even “OK” you have come to the right place.  Here is a perfect place to thank the Lord for the blessings of the 7th through the 13th.  Here (kneeling, standing or merely bowing your head) you can express deep heart gratitude for the good God allowed to come your way.  Thank him for what you consider little blessings, “medium-size” blessings, and of, course for the “biggies.”

“But,” you say, “It was a horrible week.”  As pastor, I’m sorry to hear that.  May the Lord make the new one (started a few hours ago) a better one for you.  I do need to tell you, though, you have still come to the right place.  God’s house is a great place to unburden your heart.  You can tell Him “All about our struggles” (# 611 Hymnal).  He (unlike perhaps some dear, disappointing relative) will listen as we share our woes.  He (again, unlike a relative) will not gossip.  You can trust Him with your deepest need, your greatest hurt, your biggest loss.

I encourage you to make this a weekly place to be honest with God.  If all is well, be honest and be exceedingly grateful.  If all is not well, just tell Him all about it.  Jesus cares about you and your inner self.

“A Glorious Church”

Do you hear them coming, brother,
Thronging up the steeps of light,
Clad in glorious shining garments,
Blood washed, garments pure and white?

Refrain

’Tis a glorious church without spot or wrinkle,
Washed in the blood of the Lamb;
’Tis a glorious church without spot or wrinkle,
Washed in the blood of the Lamb.

2.

Do you hear the stirring anthems,
Filling all the earth and sky,
’Tis a grand, victorious army,
Lift its banner up on high!

3.

Never fear the clouds of sorrow,
Never fear the storms of sin.
We shall triumph on the morrow,
Even now our joys begin.

4.

Wave the banner, shout His praises,
For our victory is nigh!
We shall join our conqu’ring Savior,
We shall reign with Him on high!
