“Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God’s grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out”

Bishop Hugh Latimer (born c. 1485) and Bishop Nicholas Ridley (born c. 1500) were burned at the stake on this date 10/16/1555.  They were martyred in England and by the Roman Catholic system for what was called “heresy.”
