ONE SMALL THING

 

The wart on the nose may change the pose

From bride to forgotten friend.

 

A night of “fun” ending with the sun

Could land you in the pen.

 

One careless match on dry thatch

Will turn the whole place to chars.

Faith Is the Victory author – died

ON THIS DATE

9/5 John Henry Yates died 1900, Batavia, NY.  He was a shoe salesman, newspaper editor, and hardware store manager.  He became a Methodist minister in 1886, and later pastor of the West Bethany Free Will Baptist Church.  His works include:

“Faith Is the Victory”(1891) first appeared in the Christian Endeavor Hymnal.

“Harbor Bell,”              

“Model Church,”        

“Old Book Stands”

He was born 11/21/1837, Batavia, NY
