ON THIS DATE

9/5 John Henry Yates died 1900, Batavia, NY.  He was a shoe salesman, newspaper editor, and hardware store manager.  He became a Methodist minister in 1886, and later pastor of the West Bethany Free Will Baptist Church.  His works include:

“Faith Is the Victory”(1891) first appeared in the Christian Endeavor Hymnal.

“Harbor Bell,”              

“Model Church,”        

“Old Book Stands”

He was born 11/21/1837, Batavia, NY
