Richard Baxter was born 11/12/1615 at Shropshire, England.   Disgusted by the frivolity of the court he returned home to study on his own.  The Act of Uniformity forced him out of the Church of England, he suffered repeated persecution between 1662-1687 and was imprisoned briefly in 1685-1686.
