You are one of His Originals! (You are not a copy, some cheap reproduction; you are o-r-i-g-i-n-a-l.)

It’s shameful to mutilate Fine Art.  You can NOT improve on God’s handiwork – You.

Author of “Faith is the Victory” – born

ON THIS DATE

John Henry Yates was born 11/21/1837 at Batavia, NY.  He was a shoe salesman and later managed a hardware.  In 1886 Yates entered the Methodist ministry and later pastored the West Be­tha­ny Free Will Bap­tist Church.  Ira D. Sankey (associated with Dwight L. Moody) wrote the music to “Faith Is the Victory.”  Yates died on 9/5/1900 at Batavia, NY.

His works in­clude another song worth knowing: Old Book Stands, The

Encamped along the hills of light, Ye Christian soldiers, rise.  And press the battle ere the night Shall veil the glowing skies.  Against the foe in vales below Let all our strength be hurled. Faith is the victory, we know, That overcomes the world.
