Karl Barth (5/10/1886 – 12/10/1968) on 2/24/1967, is said to have written the words below in a letter –
“The statement that God is dead comes from Nietzsche (1844-1900) and has recently been trumpeted abroad by some German and American theologians. But the good Lord has not died of this; He who dwells in the heaven laughs at them.”
One may not agree with all this Swiss Reformed theologian said/wrote but there is surely truth here. There is no Being more ALIVE than God. Sinners would like God dead so their conscience could be “liberated.”
