Mar 10.29-30

“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

“But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”

Pascal Quote

The Gospel only speaks of the virginity of the Virgin

up to the time of the birth of Jesus Christ.

All with reference to Jesus Christ.

– Blaise Pascal, from his PENSEES >> Read it. It will do you good. <<

It seems I see some Christians turning, away from the New Testament and toward the Old. Why? One sign of a cult is an affinity toward rituals – the OT is full of rituals. And do I sense an uncertainty about the Lord’s Day? We are not Jews but followers of Christ. There is a new day of worship – It commemorates our Lord’s resurrection. God could easily have had His Son come Alive again on the Sabbath – He did not. The Sabbath is past – Lord’s Day (not “sunday” – we don’t worship the sun) is come.

There are prayers from the heart

There are prayers from the head.

There are prayers half alive

And prayers that are all dead.

There are even prayers read

(To please the humans that hear).

But the best prayers include “Which art”

Intended only for God’s ear.

J B Chapman born

J B (James Blaine) Chapman was born 8/30/1884 at Yale, IL, moved to OK where a year later (1899) he was converted to Christ. In ’03 he married Maud Frederick, a school teacher, who greatly helped him in his education. He took a pastorate at Vilonia, AR in 1908 and the same year enrolled at the Arkansas Holiness College there. In ‘10 he left to pursue further studies at Texas Holiness University in Peniel, TX under president R (Roy) T Williams, receiving his Bachelor of Divinity degree ‘13. Peniel College awarded him an honorary D. D. (’18) as did Pasadena College in ‘27.

Chapman would go on to be president of both of his former schools: Arkansas Holiness College and Peniel College. He helped the General Board of Education of the Church of the Nazarene establish policies and is quoted as saying, “It was originally the plan to call every school we started a “university”… But I am, personally convinced that we should definitely abandon the idea of building any universities… that the College, with the necessary fitting school and Bible department is the school that we need and will build.”

He was the editor of the “Herald of Holiness” (’21-’28) and then was elected General Superintendent – a position he was still holding when he died (’47). Chapman wrote Bud Robinson, A Brother Beloved and Holiness the Heart of Christian Experience. Both good reading.

Not by the philosophers is true wisdom, though they count the stars,

though they labor about grammar, rhetoric, or music, it is of no avail.

They are only truly wise when they believe on Christ.

True, there are sharp notes and flat notes (purposely so) but

a sharp note can go “flat” or a flat go “sharp.”

God has a standard (which man discovered, didn’t create) for every note.

We do not all sound the same vibrations but played in His time/place have a joyful sound to make.

Kingdom Hall

They were gathered in banquet hall;

A hand came writing on the wall.

The language was odd for that day;

Daniel interpreted God’s way.

That night saw king and kingdom fall.
