No TV No TV No TV

My parents never owned a TV. My wife’s parents never owned a TV. My wife and I have never owned one. This places us in a very small percentage of 21st century Americans. Does this mean I am free from the influencing tentacles of TV? I wish! No, I am subjected to America’s IDOLS on magazine covers at the grocer, subjected to TV’s gods/goddesses via radio advertising, and subjected to hollywood’s IMAGES on highway billboards. Modernity is a sad mixture of reality and MAKE-BELIEVE. And though TV (and like ilk) are primarily filled with pretend people and pretend plots their manipulating power is horribly real. As a fellow traveler to eternity I cannot urge you too carefully to do all you can to think on your own; to not buy into “their” UNREAL world. The Bible warns against IMAGERY. Our world is permeated with it.

DENY NOT THE WILL

God did not implant within the plant, what we call “free will”
He gave more choice to animals but no free will still
Nor does the Sea, or Stone, or Storm
Have a will about its form
Only in lowly man (young, middle or aged) was it norm.
Therefore He controls all above
Except His crowning creation man
Help us Lord submit our will
Now and always to your plan.

Martha & I were blessed

Martha & I were blessed
(mean that literally) with four children. Each of them found (or were found by) a mate and also blessed to have kiddos. Friday night we drove to greater Cincy and back (where it all started J) and attended Kimberly’s graduation party, our 8th grandchild to complete high school – she turned her tassel earlier at the CHEO Ceremony, Mt Vernon, OH. Thank you, Phillip & Heather, for a well planned layout with an interesting theme. Thank you Steve & Kelly, for allowing your “former college classmates” to use your beautifully landscaped, spacious lawn for the evening. And Thank You, heavenly Father for planning families, implanting parental/child love, and for arranging perfect weather for this under-the-tent/on-the-lawn special event.
