Reading allows you to see the inside

of a writer’s soul – if he was honest.

(And, if/when you detect he was dishonest, you see his soul was hardly worth seeing.)

Reading allows you to meet aged writers, “ageless” writers, and aging (therefore current) writers.

A straw viewed from one dimension appears solid.

Viewed from its other dimension (in a sense it only has two) it all-but-disappears. Its very purpose is to be hollow. A “solid straw” is worthless unless/until its contents move up/down to an intended destination. A “straw man” appears to be real but is not (he’s a scarecrow).

In a twist of reality we are all “straw men.” We appear to be so tall, have such-n-such diameter, be striped or same in color. Every one of us is full of the Lord (or full of his enemy). We are conductors. Once our straw-life is over we are forgotten. “Lord, please use my “little straw” for its best good.”
