Rev 21. 25

“And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.”

Every earthly day has a coming darkness. Every earthly night has a coming dawn.

Heaven has an eternal day – – – no reason to dread coming night.

And, sadly, hell has eternal night with no hope of dawn. No Hope!

INDIAN SUMMER

Warm and cooling in the evening,

Grass dry and browning,

Wind full and blowing;

Ah! – Indian Summer.

2

Clouds white and billowing,

Trees all hues and bending,

Last rose lone and fading,

Autumn everywhere.

3

Walnuts and hickories falling,

Little red one-rooms swelling;

Clear-toned bells ringing,

The best is here.

4

Leaves green – now yellowing,

Yellow – now browning,

Red and varying,

Each a color to share.

5

Reaping and harvesting,

Gathering and storing;

Careful and preserving,

Now fields are bare.

6

Once and short lasting,

Each year returning,

Beautiful and heart churning,

Lovely, lovely, Indian Summer.

– eab, Oct ’64 (my 2nd recorded poem)

“Clear Prop!”

The airplane is built on earth out of earthy materials

but because of design and because of power, it goes down the runway and the earth drops away. It is a creature of the sky. The Christian is born on earth of earthy material but Christ designed us to fly. Given the power of the Holy Spirit we do fly, and the world drops away. We can be “refueled” in the sky (indefinitely – unlike planes) and someday fly on into heaven (never returning to earthly things). “Clear Prop!”
