*Past Poems Celebrating the Birth of Christ*
Inn Keeper’s Soul (card)
It was late when the rap came at the door;
“Was there room for two, maybe three, more?”
A man with honest face and callused hands,
(But did I see a touch of distant lands?)
And his lovely, young wife, lovely but tired;
Whose time for childbearing had all but expired,
Stood waiting for an affirmative nod.
2
I wish I could have let them in my inn,
(To not do so seemed almost like a sin.)
But every room had been sold out that night
Long before the sun had slipped out of sight
And I had no corner, I had no room.
(I was sleeping between the mop and the broom.)
Briefly I too waited, praying to God.
3
Then like a flash I remembered the cave.
My eyes rolled upward – Thanksgiving I gave.
Then lead them through the most silent of nights
And left them there with two candles for lights.
It was, I thought, the best thing I had,
But though best, it was unspeakable sad
That a Baby should be born under sod.
4
Later, I could see them in my mind’s eye;
Though I never formally said Good-bye.
And much later I learned a Son was born
Between the time I left and the morn.
A Son for whom Religion had no room;
A Son Who will be the church’s Bridegroom –
Every worthy of Praise, Glory and Laud!

Jer 23. 32
“Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.”

Who is more influential in your congregation – the Payers or the Prayers? When you have honestly answered this question you’ll have a better picture of the eventual success of your group. Success, that is, as seen from Above, or “success” as calculated by mere mortals.

Gabriel met Zacharias
From angel to priest came the Word
Your wife will bare a baby boy
Many will be glad – you’ll have joy
He’ll prepare the way for the Lord
2
Gabriel announced to Mary
She was the virgin of choice
To carry the Savior of all men
From David’s throne forever, again
She consented ─ when she found her voice.
3
An angel conversed with Joseph
To settle his disturbed soul
Mary should not be put away
The child is of the Holy Ghost – stay
Stay – shine in the step-father role.
4
An angel startled the shepherds
Then an awesome story told
They’d find Him in swaddling cloths wound
Earth’s Savior, born in Bethlehem-town
A Great Shepherd to save the fold.
5
An angel also warned Joseph
To take the Child, and his wife
Away from Herod’s bloody reach
(Scribes would kings the birthplace teach)
They left; thus sparing Jesus’ life.
6
An angel, angels, angel throng
Heaven’s messengers to Earth
Meeting, announcing, showing right
Created themselves before sin’s night
Who could tell an angel’s true worth?

Religion repeats its rituals.
They (whether putrid paganism or corrupted “christianity”) become routine, rigidly regulated, and blind men revel in their cycles. Salvation, Oh, joyous contrast, is linear! There was 1 creation, 1 Noah’s flood, 1 Abraham/Isaac/Jacob, 1 Bethlehem, 1 Calvary, 1 Resurrection, 1 Ascension, and there will be 1 “Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1Co 1.7 et al).
God (unlike His limited creature man) has no need to repeat Himself.
