“You may change the names and the outward appearance; paint a Peter instead of a Jupiter, a Paul instead of a Saturn; the appearance is different, the reality is the same.”
– Claudius, a leader in old Italy
Run for a life boat

Our world is a sinking ship sadly, badly tilting to the left – damaged and dangerous. Some of you who should be running for a “life boat,” are too concerned about Who is playing “shuffleboard” and Who is “winning” (feel perfectly free to insert your “besetting” sport).

It’s a wonderful thing to know
That God who reigns above,
Has a Fatherly balance
Between discipline and love.

Separation is a REAL part of being holy

Today’s leadership, almost to-a-man
(pastor, college president, conference leader, etc.), was too young to be a decision maker in “come-out movements.” Men gave up elected positions, buildings, and retirements rather than be silent about the worldliness being forced on them. (Forced was a part of the problem; power was moving away from the congregations.) Some have referred to the outward evidences as “the big 5:” jewelry, TV, and for women: cut hair, makeup, pants. The move toward power at the top is returning. How many pulpits have addressed makeup, “trimmed” hair, or TV in the last 12 months? When the “wedding band” is allowed up front (because of degree /authorship /perceived importance) how long will it be before it’s elsewhere? Holiness is more than “doctrine.”
Separation from the world is a REAL part of being holy.
