Tomorrow would have been Dad’s BD. After his demise I found myself saying “Dad used to say.” He’d said, “One boy’s a boy, two boys half a boy, and three boys no boy at all. (last verbs understood).” “A miss is as good as a mile.” “You’ll never see it on a galloping horse.” “We went to different schools, together.” And “It’s nice to be among friends, even if they’re not your own.” We are happy to own a “cedar chest” Dad made in high school (Rutland, OH, grad. 1923). He lived to be the last of his family of four. (On that note, Mom lived to be the last of her family of nine, and yours truly is the last of his family of six.)
