The PRESENT state

It’s become almost synonymous with “evangelical christianity” to be a Supporter (capital “S” intentional) of the “state of Israel.” May I urge caution? Think. Is it possible to love Jewish people but not love all the present “Israeli state” does? (Parallel question – Is it possible to love America yet not approve of all America does?) It may shock when you realize the answer to both questions is “Yes.” All that the present state of Israel does is no more perfect than all that Argentina, England or India do. Jesus is serious in His warnings about false Jews (Rev 2.9 & 3.9). Stop following TV preachers. Read Scriptures for yourself!

BORN – ONCE or TWICE

There are no human births in heaven

Nor are humans born in hell.

There were no humans born on the boat

Which road Noah’s flood so well.

Eight souls walked up the plank

(Which probably was the door.)

And eight souls came back down it

Not one less; and not one more.

God provided natural “birth control”

To the wives of all Noah’s sons;

Likely the only time fertile couples

Went a year not birthing little ones.

Earthlings are born to earthlings

Here upon earth’s broad face

Increasing the population census

For God’s entire, most special race.

Here’s the place and now’s the time,

For man’s timely reproductions.

One plus one equals three (or more)

Is a this-world, this-era, deduction.

Likewise earth is God’s place

For mankind to be re-born,

Sometime after common birth

Yet prior to death – sin’s last big thorn.

You (and I) were born in this world

Of that there’s no reason to doubt.

But have you been born again?

That’s what Christ’s death is all about.

We had no control o’er our first birth

But being re-born in all our choice,

After Christ provided redemption’s plan.

Come. Confess. Believe Him and rejoice.

Kingfish

Jimmy Willis is a name you may not recognize.

But you may know his “radio name,” Kingfish. (My parents didn’t listen to “Amos and Andy” but I later learned of them.) I met the original Kingfish at God’s Bible School – after he converted to Christ and became a minister. My first year (’57-’58) the school had a Lord’s Day afternoon chapel. Bro Willis spoke and afterward, near where the central organ once stood, I got his signature in my Bible (This Bible seemed big to Martha Scarbrough in her first memory of me on the campus.) Not only did he sign his name but he wrote in it “Give God the Glory.” The Bible is long since gone (donated to Phil Newton because of a Bible shortage in the Bahamas c. ‘67-’68) but his saying’s been with me ever since.
