1Ti 2.1 – 2

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

“There is a blessed variety in the personal leadings of the Holy Ghost and if we follow…our testimonies, no two will be a like and no trite expression will mar the beauty of their originality or of their inspiration.”

When is the last time you thanked God for your bed? Bed?!? Yes, bed. I’ll supply points – you may have others to add. Thank God for a Soft bed. Thank Him for a Clean bed. Thank God for a Dry bed. Thank Him for a Warm bed. Thank Him for a “Fresh” bed. (You could have a soft & clean-sheeted, dry & warm bed but the mattress smell stale, dusty.) Allow one more – Thank God for a Level bed. You could have all the above yet have floor tilted and you slide aside or to the end. Be grateful e-v-e-r-y-n-i-g-h-t for your bed.

CONTENTMENT

Some glory in all they own: a car, a truck, a plane, a boat

A house on land and one afloat

Accounts in two, make that three, big banks

(In the upper percent of the town’s ranks)

Have beef cows, riding horses, and a goat.

A few souls are happy without earth’s gold

To say they are rich might seem a bit bold.

They’re rich in what they don’t need to own

They’re content to live within their money-zone.

Joy isn’t based on what you (& the bank 😦 ) hold.

Without approving of all Henry David Thoreau

said/did, it seems he was on-to-something when he observed (my words of his idea) once we have food, clothing, and shelter, what we have after that is better food, better clothing, better shelter, until we have the best food, the best clothing, the best shelter. (Are we trying to impress our sinner friends with our visits to high-end restaurants, designer clothing, huge houses – and huge bank notes?) As far as I know Thoreau he was not a follower of Christ.

Friend, if he could see THIS without grace, what ought we to see with God’s abundant grace? Amen? Ouch?
