A group of men confer a doctor’s degree upon a man; they’re happy, he’s happy. Given a few years he joins others as they confer a doctorate on the next “educational generation.” Again all are pleased – a new man has joined “their club.” We’re doctoring ourselves, happy with ourselves, and I fear somewhat deceiving ourselves. The Bible, source of true learning, never says “Get a degree, the higher the better.” It DOES say, “…tarry…until ye be endued with power from on high” Luk 24.49). Doctor’s degrees take many hours but require no deadness to carnality. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is done instantly (once conditions are met) but requires a death to self. Both doctor degrees and Holy Ghost fillings carry authority. Are we substituting “conferring” for the Comforter?

God requires

You don’t have to dot all my i’s or cross all my t’s. But as a minister/teacher and your friend, I remind you God in His love for you, has provided a wonderful Instruction Manual and has sent His wonderful Holy Spirit. If you want to draw slower to Him, He’ll guide you in reading and heeding the i’s and t’s (if I may call them that) which He requires. Yes, I typed “requires.” Just because your pulpit has a growing silence on specific sins doesn’t show God has changed – – – it shows your pastor/church changed.

Moderns idea of what’s sin.

“Crazy” describes many

Of society’s cheap goals.

You may not have the brilliant mind

of some, you may not have the good looks of another, you may not be fluent with tongue or pen, nor have a “great” personality but there is one thing you can do. You can love. Love God with all your being and love people. When your days wind to a close and your body finds its grave repose, few things can be said about you better than “He/she loved people” except the obvious “He/she loved God” –

and, you know what? They. Go. Together.
