Historical Science

Today, 86 years ago, Auguste Piccard (peacar) landed in Gurgi, Austria after his historic ride. He lifted off from Augsberg, Germany, May 27, 1931 in a pressurized aluminum capsule under a huge hydrogen balloon and rose to about 10 miles (later in the 30’s, he went up to 14 miles). This Swiss physicist (1884-1962) rose to heights here-to-for unknown and is quoted as saying earth, “Seemed a flat disc with an upturned edge.”

If your soul (that is the real you) is “the car,” your will is the “steering wheel.” You may steer toward heaven, OR (horrid thought) you may steer toward hell. The car goes where the steering wheel demands; and so with the soul/will duo.

We often speak of heaven

As a place with streets of gold,

And think that we’re describing it

In an illustration, bold,

Imagining that such a place

Must be fabulous indeed,

If earth’s most precious metal

Is mere pavement – so decreed.

Forgetting that the real wealth,

Which the Lord has up there,

Are the precious, transformed lives

Who’ve arrived there from “here.”

For if one soul is worth more

Than the combined wealth of earth,

Redeemed souls from every race

Make golden streets of small worth.

Yours truly posts to help people,

to encourage thought, to prod toward holy living; these are not posted for controversy. (Imagine a subject so sterling that no one could label it “controversial.” J) They are areas which warrant thought, if not by you, then by a neighbor open to truth. True, my “light” is not your “light” but as a minister (Social media is my “retirement” pulpit.) I try to touch on a variety of subjects, some of which, are not being preached by modernist – even holiness – pastors. An argumentative person can disagree with anything. May I ask that you kindly publish opposing ideas on your OWN page. Thank you.

Ante-Nicene Quote

“Among us nothing is ever said, or seen, or heard, which has anything in common with

1.] the madness of the circus 2.] the immodesty of the theatre 3.] the atrocities of the arena

4.] the useless exercises of the wrestling ground. Why do you take offence at us because we differ from you in regard to your pleasures?”

– Tertullian, APOLOGY [1-4 inserted by eab]
