It is with a most grateful heart that I humbly express to you my deepest appreciation.” If you had to trill-off such “flowery words” every time, it could be a burden. God (“Inventor” of words) and the English tongue, allow a simple two-syllable term to do nicely. You guessed it – “Thank you.” It’s easily said & happily heard. I encourage you to “practice” saying ‘til it becomes natural. “Thank You.”

Royal spirits are lonely in this world but won’t be in the next.”

Is the church becoming rare who wants a serious preacher? Are messages extolling holiness &/or exposing carnality, no longer welcome in our camps or conventions? Are holiness people heaping “…to themselves teachers, having itching ears” and thus have turned “…away their ears from the truth” (fr.2Ti 4.3-4)? “Look around you, read your Bible; Understand it and take heed.” (fr.song God gave me in 1972).

Time is sliced into various divisions;

Each has it use, by man’s reasons.

Nanosecond, second, minute, hour,

Hold time in its swift fleeting power

“Tardes” PM, night, AM, noon,

Come once a day, passing away soon.

A week seems long at its starting peak,

Tumbles across time, disappears as weak.

A month – who could ask for anything more?

Vacation’s soon gone – back to the store.

Months are grouped and make a stack

Called a year – what a giant sack.

Then years find themselves in a fade

Tied together in a progressing decade.

Ten years is (again) a time beginning long

Ending it seems, as a passing song.

Fifty years, imagine, wedding-to-now

“Not so long.” celebrants would allow.

Most have no memory a century in length,

Few have such body/mind strength,

But time stops not at the century mark,

Ten centuries, a millennium, bright or stark.

And only six millennia or so

Takes us back to Adam’s “bite” of woe.

And then, resting our toes on the brink

Of eternity (b-e-f-o-r-e), What do you think?

Forever stretching backward, beyond that first day,

Eternity is a chasm that stretches way far away.

Man’s units of time, his slices so neat,

Find not place in that “land,” find no food no drink.

Time is never tangible, it’s elusive at best;

Eternity (future), dreaded or loved, is the test.

Eternity is decided by what man does within time.

Make it blessed, Friend, through Christ; make it sublime.

Today Mom (Ruth E. Bryan – her signature)

would’ve turned 110. I’m glad she was my “mother” though I never called her that – she was Mom. She & Dad did their best to stay in a careful-way church and without being unduly critical, might question on the way home from church, to know if what he preached was in the Bible – I appreciate that heritage. A cousin said, “If Aunt Ruth didn’t make it there’s no need for the rest of us trying.”

Bless the memory of a great Mom and a great friend of holiness missionaries.

Ante-Nicene Quote

“…the prophets used not to prophesy in word alone, but in visions also and in their mode of life and in the actions which they performed.”
