Parents, be consistent; your children need an anchoring point in this world. Be consistently right (with the wonderful help of the Holy Spirit this is possible) on the major issues. If on some minor issue you make a mistake, make an apology. Be big enough to say “I was wrong” & mean it.

Don’t measure a man by the length of his house,
Or its width, or height, or price.
Don’t gauge him by the flivver he drives,
No matter how cruddy old or how nice.
Don’t judge a man by the suit that he dons,
Or rich or poor food on his plate,
Nor by the “luck” he seems to have
Or that he has to endure bad “fate.”
In fact, it’s best to not judge him at all;
Like him for the good that you see.
Befriend him every time that you can,
Hold him equal, with you, and me.
If/when you see him a few years hence
His possessions may be more or less.
It’s the Man that counts. Now, & then.

Solemn sermons were preached in yesteryear warning of the TV pollution. They were right though sadly too many younger people resented them. Truth be known, the negative impact of TV is not limited to bad words & evil actions. The very content, the underlying ideas are purposely planned to change how society thinks – & together with state schools/colleges they changed it. We should’ve heeded those old sermons.

How is your relationship with Jesus? “I’m a church member.” Pardon me, but that wasn’t what I ask. Let me use different words – How do you & Jesus get along? Many a man/woman has a “relationship,” in the sense of living under the same roof, speaking when spoken to, having the same last name, but love is sadly lacking. When is the last time (with no one around) you simply told Jesus, “I love you”?

There’s a huge difference between wanting to be like God & wanting to take His place. All Christians have a desire to follow Christ, to pattern our simple lives after His glorious Man/God example. But to want to take His place, to desire to be God yourself, is utterly, horribly evil.
