In Charge + + + +

Salvation separates us from the world. Growth & sanctification widen the disconnection. Wisdom & discernment help us remove further from, & stay separate, from the world, including the worldly church.  – eab, 2/27/17

IN CHARGE

God was in charge the original Day One

When He spoke light in (without the sun)

And He’ll be in charge in the final day

When kingdoms crumble, the Stone has full sway!

Books are quite easily divided into fiction & non-fiction. This basic division gets blurred as soon as we consider films. A film may portray a century or several centuries ago & seem factual when in reality it’s only a few months old & may not be based on reality. Likewise, a film may supposedly be a century into the future which we know is not true. Question – How much falseness are we willing, even LOVING to accept? Or how much Truth are we willing to forgo?

“The Bible is the cause of all the troubles in the church.”

– Dr. Usinger, one of Luther’s teachers, while still in the Roman system

Sadly the church today has two problems. We have men in leadership who are shallow. (We’re perhaps all more shallow than we realize L.) Related directly to this, is our lack of discernment. Our failure at discerning has increased this shallowness. Men & women of deep prayer & keen observation are needed for us to again have churches in close relationship with Christ.

Rev 1.11

“I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and,

What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches…”

Pretend #1 Pretend I’m a “rich uncle” & you’re a niece. In the scenario, I’ve never had a child; love isn’t strong but I’ve a degree of tolerance for nieces/nephews. Though childless I’ve developed ideas of how youth should be educated. You approach for a school loan. As the one handing out $, don’t be surprise if I ask what/how you’re going to study. Or that I try to persuaded you to study this (& not that). Don’t be shocked when I suggest text A (& refuse to give money for text B) – after all, it IS my $.

Pretend #2 When you find out I gave a cousin more because he did more of my wishes, you’ll perhaps want to line up better next time. Hello? Uncle Sam never has his own kids but he’ll influence through $. Nothing new – nor surprise! Money often has strings, some less visible but strings. Bible colleges should NOT seek government money. If they do, shouldn’t be surprised that Uncle Sam sooner or later influences.
