Ahithophel

Ahithophel “liked” his own advice;

Thought it solid, perhaps quite nice.

When his guidance went unheeded,

He hung himself, as unneeded.

Hanging is a murderous vice. [2Sa 17.23]

Mar 10.19

Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor thy father and mother.”

The one tempted to suicide may think, “I don’t see anything for which to live.” Allow a suggestion – You can Live To Pray [LTP]. You could become the “prayingest” soul with your last name (modern or ancient). You could become the one who prays the most (you may never know this-that’s OK) in your church. You could pray until no one prays more in your city or countryside. Praying is more important than most christians & many preachers seem to realize. Prayer can become your “strong suit.”

“What on earth would I pray about?” You can start by Praising/Thanking Him. Praise God the Father for Who He is (the best you can understand Him). Praise/Thank Him for sending His Son (Joh 3.16). Thank/Praise Him for the gift of the Holy Spirit, our Comforter. Your praise can expand to include His created plant-life, animal-life, & the sun/moon/stars o’er head, etc. Praise/Thank God for “beans & taters” a roof overhead, clothing, (& again etc.) Let God know you appreciate His wonderful salvation, His provision of sanctification, & the hope of being glorified.
