Act 3.19
“…When the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”
If you’re a farm lad or lass (or were blessed to have been one) you may recall a hot, haying-day in the “south forty” or being down in the pasture cutting iron weed & thistles when “out of nowhere” came the most delicious, cooling breeze. You absolutely loved it. As I was brushing boiled linseed oil on our rustic fence recently such a breeze moved through – It. Was. Wonderful. Saints, how much like these, are the unmerited “breezes” of the Holy Spirit in our sin-heated world. Oh, we need His presence!

“He will only come to a heart that is aflame
with ardent desire for His presence.”
– J M Pike, /The Double Cure/
I met folks yrs ago who wouldn’t have a radio. That “tribe” is almost extinct. Now I see people walking, mowing lawns, you-name-it, with tiny speakers in ears & therefore voices invading their brains. The no-radio-people may’ve not been right, but neither am I convinced that always having words/“music” piped into your head is good. Don’t be afraid to be alone with your mind & God.

Moon
Hi, odd shaped moon on high,
Luminary ship in a night-like sky,
What doest Thou in your reign
Looking down on us with such disdain?
By grace, saints will pass you by.

Mat 5.4
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
When did the church start laughing more than she weeps? (Yes, there is a genuine holy laughter but it is very rare.) Possibly when the preacher started seeing himself as an “encourager,” rather than a “…preacher of righteousness…”(2Pe 2.5). NOTE: When warning of laughter in church, I’m speaking of excess. And particularly of the “leader” who is purposely being funny. I’m not referring to accidental humor (totally unplanned) at which I also laugh at times.

“The only protection against compromise
is a continual growth in grace.”
– Unknown, Allegheny W. M. paper
If the devil is going to prepare people to enter his ecumenical church – the antichrist will be religious, he wants you to think he’s Christ – he (satan) has to have a substitute for the Holy Spirit. If satan is going to get foolish souls to follow him, he’s going to make them feel good about themselves – feel like all is well, when sadly it is the opposite. Today, saint, is the time to BEG God for discernment. Now is the time to “try the spirits” (1Jo 4.1). And then – – – have the backbone to leave an apostate church.
