Dan 12.3 +

Dan 12.3

“…They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament

…they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever & ever.”

“God never made any kind of church but a holiness church, either visible or invisible.”
– Glenn Griffith, “The Presence of the Glory” (sermon)

If you’re wanting entertainment satan will see to it that a sport, theater, hollywood show, “game” appears which so appeals to you that you, that it will consume you.

If, on the other hand you desire holy, inner attainment the Blessed Holy Ghost lead you to that.

Which do you want?

– eab, 12/30/18

“…The reason we are having trouble & the reason preachers are losing their message & folks are losing their testimony is a lack of the glory of God.”

– Glenn Griffith “The Presence of the Glory” (sermon)

To live the life

To die the death

That I might rise again

With eternal breath.

Job 24.13

“They are of those that rebel against the light;

they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.”

God wrote a literal, Literary Masterpiece. Of course, God’s enemy doesn’t want you to read it.

If you do read it, satan doesn’t want you to take it literally.

Defy satan & embrace all the Bible says about God – – – & about you.

– eab, 12/26/18

“…in the reign of Henry VIII an honest farmer once gave a cart load of hay

for one leaf of St. James Epistle in English.”

– Gilchrist Lawson

God wishes no one to go to hell. But He does only want those in heaven who love Him, no rebels.

And, though the thought of this may be new, every sinner is a rebel. To our eyes he may not look like a rebel, talk like a rebel, act like a rebel but if he rejects God’s Son as his only way to salvation he’s a rebel. – eab, 12/26/18

“The Lord is my light & my salvation; whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid? (PS 27.1).”

Isa 44.23 +

Isa 44.23

“Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth:

break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein…”

“As the disciples intuitively discerned Moses & Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration

so may we expect to recognize the saints above.”

– M W Knapp

Isa 45.18 For thus saith the LORD that created the Heavens; GOD himself that formed the Earth and MADE it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited…     God made Heaven, Earth, World # 23

“If ‘Dives’ could recognize the ‘beggar’ in the spirit world much more may we expect to know those who have been dear to us on earth.”

– M W Knapp

Have you ever thought, as you’ve thought about

Christmas and its worth,

That the greatest gift ever wrought,

Closed the end of a spiritual drought,

– Christ from glory came forth.

– eab, Dec, 1979

2Th 2.13 “…God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:”

Consciously or un-consciously you’re living /Today/ by what *you* believe: some beliefs, in which you were raised, some you acquired during imposed schooling, some beliefs you’re “trying-out-for-size” even, as you read this. Be wise. Drop (let them “crash & burn”) wrong beliefs. Firmly align your life with correct beliefs. Here’s why. Unless you have a major, personal revival, you’re likely die with the beliefs you presently hold. Is that what you want? – eab, 12/26/18

“Never…allow yourselves to despise those

who do not follow your rules of life.”

– Wm. Law, /Serious Call…/

Tell the Truth or get out of the pulpit or classroom. It is better that you go to hell alone (if you won’t repent) as to take parishioners/pupils with you. Pastoring & teaching are serious actions with serious consequences.

– eab, 12/26/18

“Forbearing one another and forgiving one another,

if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

“You can’t please the people & please God.

You can’t please carnality & please God.”
– C B Fugett, “I Have Played the Fool” (sermon)

A drug called entertainment is dragging people to theaters, stages, & opera houses to listen, clap, & give standing ovations. Are you addicted to what holiness preachers once clearly condemned? Please admit you are hooked & ask Christ to stop your craving for such worldly “drugs.”

– eab, 12/21/18

“…Every sanctified person on earth is ready to give up his job if it is God’s will.

No man who has the Holy Ghost is seeking a job or an office.”

– C B Fugett, “I Have Played the Fool” (sermon)

At the right city, In the right time,

By the right mother, From the right line,

To the right nation, In the right tribe;

Christ came to earth humanity to imbibe

1Ti 4.13

“Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”

Variety in Bible Reading for 2019? Try starting a 30(28-30+) chapter Book on Jan.1(finishing It near the start of Feb). 1/1/19=Chap.1, 1/2/19=Chap.2, etc. I’d encourage you to read a second Book (similar length) in the same fashion in the other Testament. A third Book can help you read the Bible through in a year. (Books like Psalms / Isaiah, etc. can flow over into next month, staring Feb. with Psa 32 or Isaiah 32.) Happy Holy Reading – the Best Book you’ll ever read!

– eab, 12/21/18

“It is claimed that Geo. Muller…

read the Bible through more than 155 times.”

– Gilchrist Lawson

An unlit candle is an ornament, perhaps a conversation piece, a thing of “eloquence.” The unlit Christian is similar. “Ye are the light of the world…” is not an unlit candle. The unlit candle has no light, no heat, is a help to no one. A lit candle is consumed; but it lights the room.

– eab,12/20/18

Read the Bible; read the Bible.

“The false feeling that ‘He doesn’t lead in little things’

Isa 45.12 I have MADE the Earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the Heavens, and all their host have I commanded.   God made Heaven, Earth, World # 22

“I seem to be enabled to be PERFECTLY satisfied with whatever He chooses;

and it is so nice.”

– Frances R Havergal, quoted by M W Knapp

The younger may be tempted

To envy a man his great wealth.

“He can buy what he wants to buy.”

The older may be tempted

To envy a man his good health.

“He climbs & walks so spry.”

(But remember temptation is no sin

As long as you don’t agree, within.)

– eab, 12/25/18

1Th 4.7c

“…And so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Heaven (IMO) may be abundantly rich in its range of cultures. (Not only in the spectrum of saints from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, & Europe but from these same spots in the 1800s, the 1100s, etc.) God is the Author if variety. This is easily seen in animals & plants. It’s also seen in present humans. Why won’t cultural backgrounds be also enjoyed above? Enjoy your God-given individuality.

– eab, 12/26/18

“…As great as the power of the world is, it is built on a blind obedience

& we need only to open our eyes to get rid of its power.”

– Wm. Law, /Serious Call…/

Hell (again, IMO) may be a huge conglomeration of “samish” sinners. Men who smoked/drank to be like their peers, woman who were immodest to fit with “friends,” now so bored with the copy-cat souls about them. Perhaps so tried of seeing rebel souls just like them yet doomed to such with no possible way of escape. Sinner Friend, now come to Christ so you can enjoy here & above your God-given individuality.

“You can’t understand the Bible without the new heart.”
– C B Fugett, “I Have Played the Fool” (sermon)

Family Altar con’t.- After the Bible reading, your wife or a child may have a question. Answer it the best you can, if you can. If you have no idea what the answer is, simply say I don’t know & tell them you’ll seek the answer. Seek it A.) Through prayer (God may give you a respond directly from Him),  B.) By searching a commentary or concordance,  C.) By asking the pastor next Lord’s Day.

– eab, 12/16/18

“We are all just as other men until the Spirit of God comes upon us.

How badly we need Him.”

– C B Fugett, “I Have Played the Fool” (sermon)

CHRIST’S COMING (5th Bryan card)

Prophet and king had gladly told

And written it with care.

The young had learned it from the old,

Both delighted in the share.

The beggar heard it and believed

In His future wealthy reign.

Oppressed people were not grieved,

A loving Ruler, they were to gain.

They wanted Christ, That Chosen Race.

Although the Book told the place,

They missed Him. A sad case!

Pastor and layman with voices bold

And teachers also bear,

The message, “We are cold, too cold

To go with Him, so fair.”

We’ve been chilled and deceived,

By “riches”, in the main.

I’m afraid we’d be relieved

If He didn’t come again.

Relieved, because of our slow pace.

Relieved, we lack His offered grace.

Relieved, not to see Him face to face.

– eab, December 1969

Luk 6.27

“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies,

do good to them which hate you,”

Person wrote a Book I wish you’d read. It’s an older Book & not all easy reading but Oh, the depth. There’s an interesting mix of prose & poetry. It has several genre: autobiographical material, intense action (migration & military), great deal of human interest, & yes, more than one love story. As a literature major (BA,‘67) there is no Book I can more highly recommend, regardless of your age. I speak, of course, of the Classic of all Classics, the Holy Bible. Don’t pretend that you’re educated if you haven’t read It through. – eab, 12/21/18

“…I went a friend’s house last night & looked at TV. God convicted me

with Psalm 119:37 ‘Turn away mine eye’s from beholding vanity.’”

– Jim Elliott, quoted by Vance Havner

“How are you?” I overheard at the next table in a restaurant. “Sober” he said. “That’s no fun” was her immediate response. Paul wrote the Ephesians “…Be not drunk with wine wherein is excess but be filled with the Spirit.” How many of us are “sober” i.e. not overflowing with the Spirit? We can be having not “fun” but be joyous. Alas not enough of us are. Amen? Ouch?

– eab, 12/21/18

The Shunammite woman didn’t say ‘I perceive that this is a famous man of God

or popular or brilliant or successful man of God.’ She said a ‘holy’ man of God.

– M W Knapp

Isa 42.5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the Heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the Earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:          –         God made Heaven, Earth, World # 21

“He [Christ] directs through His Spirit & Word

and they ever both agree.”

– M W Knapp

Years have now past since He was seen last,

In Jerusalem or Bethany.

His step in the land is not on the sand,

At Jordan or blue Galilee.

Some men have said (they’re long since dead)

That He would be forgot.

Where are they now – who were they anyhow?

I’d like to tell them a lot.

That Life has changed, that Influence ranged,

To men of every clime.

And even the date, is not by fate,

But according to His time.

He didn’t publish a book, notes He never took;

A few sermons He gave,

On justice and peace, joy that will not cease,

And words on how to behave.

His travel was small, not far at all,

His life – an untimely end.

But enough to reach, ole time to breach

Centuries, the story to send.

So there in part, weak rhyme, less art,

Are thoughts on my Lord.

This season of the year, praise to Him so dear

The Living Eternal Word.

– eab, December 1968

Deu 11.19

“…ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them

when thou sittest in thine house…when thou walkest by the way

when thou liest down…when thou risest up.”

Have Family Altar: 1.) Start with a shorter Bible Book (without hard names). 2.) Don’t feel you must read a the chapter – read part, mark it & read another part tomorrow. (If you’re a poor reader, read the verses over to yourself ahead of time, even twice.) 3.) Do not think you have to say words of your own after the Scripture. 4.) Have a short prayer, including the all the family by name. 5.) If it’s easier, have prayer first.

“Man knows us, and God judges us, by our records…”

– Wilfred Grenfell, MD – Brit who was missionary to Canada

My parent raised me to think. I heard them ask each other on the way home from church (we went to what they knew were the best churches in our area), “Is that in the Bible?” Because of them, I knew when I went to junior-high to reject the un-Biblical “idea” called evolution. (Later I’d learn out it was unscientific as well as un-Biblical.) Thank God for Clyde & Ruth Bryan.

Psa 27.11

“Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path…”

I trust the KJV translators & that God helped them produce this Classic of all English Bibles.

I do not trust the translators of modern “translations” nor their “gods” who helped them.

If you, sir, ma’am, trust modern “translations” that’s your choice. And, truly, that’s really what the

newly-created struggle between the Classic KJV & anti-KJV camp is about – who we each Trust.

“…Home, earth’s only paradise…”

– William J. Bryan /In His Image

The devil doesn’t want you to worship God. The rascal will distract you from seeing God at church. If it’s a cathedral type building, he’ll try to get you admiring the artistry (& thinking about the hours it took). If it’s a new building, he’ll try to distract you to admire the architecture. Ask the Lord to help you to see beyond all man-made distractions & see Him. He is not stain-glass windows, fancy stonework, or pipe organs. He SO much higher & deserves our heartfelt worship. Look to Him & Him alone!

“…The eyes of the LORD run to & fro throughout the whole earth to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

Note on 2Ch 16.9: In at least 1 modern translation “perfect” was replaced with the word “loyal.” People using such are being robbed of the Power of Perfection. Sad.

2Ch 6.18

“But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold heaven & the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!”

God’s View is Vertical (A.-H.) from Top to Bottom, from Best to Worst, Purity to most Filthy.

A.) Heaven of heavens (Deu 10.14ff)

B.) Third Heaven (2Co 12.2)

C.) Second Heaven (necessary if a 3rd – no refer.)

D.) First heaven (Rev 21.1)

E.) Earth (906+ ref.)

F.) Under the earth (Ex 20.4ff)

G.) Hell (2Sa 22.6)

“If the Church of Christ had nothing to commend it but the stability of Christian homes in a divorce-riddled society, that alone would be sufficient justification for the church.”

– Andrew W Blackwood

There’s a desire in every heart (suppressed too many times, but there) to be better, even to be holy. Cult leaders latch onto this & warp it. Bland “christianity” teaches you can’t be holy yet, not while alive. God, by wonderful contrast, has a present provision for us to be pure in heart (Beatitude #6). Do you have a pure heart? Do you acknowledge you have a longing, a yearning to be holy?

Heaven is up, hell is always down;

In Scripture that’s where they’re found.

God’s worlds are perpendicular.

The devil said he walked “to & fro”

(Is that how he dreams he’ll always go?

Or, at least, somewhat circular?)

Never forget that satan fell

Which rhymes perfectly with hell;

Where he’s soon bound to land.

But, saints, heaven’s up on high

Where we’ll fly bye & bye!

Won’t that be deliciously grand?

– eab, 12/16/18

Psa 33.8

“Let all the earth fear the LORD:

let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.”

Has the fad of saying “awesome” or “that’s totally awesome” passed enough I may raise a flag? It’s been out of place (IMO) applied to secular things. “Awe” is in 1.) “Stand in awe & sin not…”(Psa 4.4); “Lord” is in both v3 & v5. 2.) “…Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him”(Psa 33.8); him is “Lord.” 3.) “…My heart standeth in awe of thy word”(Psa 119.161). God is truly AWESOME. I hate to see a word applicable to Him, used otherwise. P.S. Does anyone know what prompted “it” to be commonly used?

– eab, 12/16/18

“One is tempted to have three little introductions before one starts to preach. But it is a safe rule to have only one front porch for any one house.”

God’s worlds are Perpendicular. He’s up, His Son came down, rose Up, went Up, will come back down.

Men are down but can go Up or sadly down. (God is allowing us a choice to be Up with Him or not.)

The devil was Up, is down, is going farther down “bottomless pit” (Rev 20.3) & will be down forever.

“The Official Story” is put out by an official (at times a faceless bureaucrat) or one of his employees. It is passed on by people who never question anything an official says. When a person questions “The Official Story” he is suspect, as far as the official is concerned & may be labeled. Evangelists & pastors used to warn about such places as Disneyland & Disneyworld. Now men/women who attend holiness churches & groups from holiness schools go. Were the yesteryear “holiness greats” wrong or are moderns “longing-for-entertainment” wrong? One has to be. I’ll stand with the anointed ministers who graced our platforms.
