Mat 12.36 +

Mat 12.36

“…Every idle word that men shall speak,

they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”

“Sham revivals are insipid to the wicked, sickening to the saints,

disguisting to God, & delightful to no one but the devil.” – M W Knapp

Jer 10.12 He hath MADE the Earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the Heavens by his discretion.            – God made Heaven, Earth, World # 25

“Keep as sweet as John & at the same time as bold as Peter

after the Pentecostal Baptism.”

– M W Knapp /Revival Kindlings/

I see God in a pansy so small,

In an oak, a mountain wall.

I see Him in the moon’s light ball,

In a canyon’s hall, a leaf’s bright fall.

I see Him over all.   Do You?

I smell God in the month of May,

In new mown hay, on a rainy day.

I smell Him in a salty bay,

In October’s gay, in the dew’s lay.

I smell Him in many a way.   Do You?

I hear God in the wind’s toot,

In an owl’s hoot, in rain’s dilute.

I hear Him in the music of a flute,

In the drop of fruit, the bird’s “salute.”

I hear Him in rife pursuit.   Do You?

I feel God in a baby’s skin,

In the grass thin, a grain bin.

I feel Him in a fish’s fin,

In a honey locust “pin,” feathers of a wren.

I feel Him “then.”   Do You?

I taste God in an apple so sweet,

In well-done meat, a nutty treat.

I taste Him in the product of wheat,

In salt’s feat, when spices meet.

I taste Him replete.   Do You? – eab, Jan.  1966

Mat 1.21

“…Thou shalt call his name JESUS:

for he shall save his people from their sins.”

People who are saved from a burning house are happy to be out. Souls saved from drowning are glad to be out of the water. Many, however do not want to be saved From their sin – they want to be saved from hell (the consequence of sin). But sin itself? No. They relish it. This *not* how Jesus nor true salvation works.

– eab, 1/4/19

“…Nothing under the sun is more hurtful

than the doctrine of men’s tradition and works…”

– Martin Luther, /Commentary on Galatians/

Would that every church which has the concept of a second work of grace in its manual, had members who lived holy. Would that every pastor who belongs to a “holiness” denomination (or connection) preached a clear holiness message. Christ died not only to redeem but “Jesus…that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate” (Heb 13.12).

– eab, 12/22/18

“To do so no more is the truest repentance.”

– Martin Luther
