Tis no ordinary night

Tomorrow a birthday looms,

Another year of life and light

And I’m this side the tombs.

What has one year wrought?

Who is better because I lived it?

Where have I the lost, sought?

To what good has live “sieved” it?

Tomorrow, three score plus two *

Of the Biblical three score and ten

Years as cattle, not a few,

Over yonder hill now wend.

Php 2.12c

“…Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

[ Please, Friend, do not love the 1st part & ignore the last part.]

God has a holy standard. We will meet His standard for /us/ individually, or we’ll answer to Him at judgment. The devil will try to convince you that God is asking too much (“you’re only human”) – satan doesn’t know if it’s too much or not – he’s never been human. Christ has been one of us, Praise the Lord, & He asks no more of us than He knows we can bear (1Co 10.13). – eab, 2/8/19

“Many people have lost the witness of the Spirit

by not pressing after a greater fullness.”

– J A Wood, /Perfect Love/

Marriage Math:

A wife either adds to OR subtracts from her husband.

She either multiples his efforts OR she divides them.

“…I will make him an help meet for him”(Gen 2.18) are serious words –

perhaps much more serious than modernity will admit. – eab, 2/10/19

“Men cannot be public sinners

and then become private saints.”

– J A Wood, /Perfect Love/
