Gen 46.7 +

Gen 46.7

“His sons & his sons’ sons with him, his daughters & his sons’ daughters

& all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.”

“Oh, I don’t want to go to Hell & live with the cowards of the centuries.

The fearful will be there.”

– J Wesley Adcock, sermon “If I Make My Bed in Hell”

# 1 Between 9:30 & 10 the Hausman’s arrived at our bungalow with crock-pots to plug in & other food.. We all left for church at 10 something. When we arrived the Dickinsons were already there. It was pure pleasure to see 2 Hausman girls & 2 Dickinson girls playing their violins for the congregational hymn & offertory. The Hausmans provided a special & the Dickinson Family sang. I told one of the church ladies I was rich – rich in grandchildren. Nice to worship with 13 (daughters, son-n-laws, & grands).

# 2 Martha & I had set up our oak table (bought used in Cincy c.1964 & brought home in Dwight Luther’s Chevy-my VW was too small) with its 6 leaves & an overflow table. Our girl’s families fixed & brought all the food. It was a crowded but enjoyable time. Garlic chicken, Potato casserole, Tossed salad, Green beans, Rolls, Berry pies, & “the necessary” J Chocolate cake. Good food, better fellowship. Thank you, dear family for all the bother to prepare & pack the food, all the way up here.

# 3 The occasion? Our oldest s-n-l got a year older on Feb. 11, as did yours truly; same date but one in ’69, other ’43. Last couple of years (if I remember correctly) we went their direction but it was nice they brought the family (but Natasha) to visit, howbeit briefly, with us. Both families left to go back to church in Pleasant Plain & Phillip to speak there that night. Moma/Gram & I were happy to see you ALL. A bunch of cows? (A herd.) A bunch of lions? (A pride.) A bunch of grandkids? (A WEALTH of grandchildren.)

“God created man & woman to have an affinity between the two in the fear of God,

in the light of holiness, until He could smile upon them in holy wedlock.”

– J Wesley Adcock, sermon “If I Make My Bed in Hell”

It’s easy to be modern

When you live in a modern day,

To let the old slip from you

To let it slide far away.

All that’s “progress” is not progress;

All was not bad in yesterday.

How we need a fresh revival

Oh, how we need again to pray.

The grand old Book has been replaced

By religious movies and plays.

Great revivals were not products

Of “seminars,” or picnic days!

Praying has a way of making

A small canoe into a barge.

And also shrinking those “big” things

Till they aren’t quite as large.

“A mentally insane person will treat fact as fiction & ficiton as fact;

morally insane people do the same.”

– R G Flexon, sermon “After This”

Deu 4.9

“Only take heed to thyself & keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen & lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons & thy sons’ sons”

“If your children have never heard you pray,

seek God, set up a family altar, & go to praying.”

– R G Flexon, sermon “After This”
