“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter,

but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”

“I’m both weary and wary

of a lot of flippant speeches concerning God.”

– S D Herron, sermon (uncertain date)

What happened to our schools? #5

Third McGuffey Reader (4th – 5th grade, Rev.,1920) had these Christian words:

Absalom (p. 12),   Amen (p. 90),   Bible (p. 155, 206)    Example:

“Yes, sir; each boy has a Spelling Book, a Reader, and a Testament.” [Definitions. Testament, the last twenty-seven books of the Bible.] (Lesson LX, “The Contented Boy” – Dr. John Aiken)

“…The Book tells us that God talked with Moses face to face…that is the greatest, most wonderful privilege that God would share with us the things He wants to talk about.”

– S D Herron, sermon (uncertain date)

The first man chose to disobey

(God said to stay away).

His son chose to kill.

Soon sin was so in style

Mankind did it all the while;

Its stench was very ill.

Jas 1.26

“If any man among you seem to be religious & bridleth not his tongue

but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”

I drove a Mack truck before I went to the 1st grade – allow me to explain. My “Mack” had 1 tire, instead of a steering wheel it had handles, & I made the noise including “changing gears.” You see, it was a pretend truck – little doubt “Mack” because I’d seen that bulldog on a hood. There are many souls today driving a pretend religion. It only has 1 tire (Salvation has 4). Their religion has weird “steering” (Salvation is Biblical). They are making the noise: emotional or ritual (Salvation has true Joy). My “Mack” was, to Dad, a wheelbarrow. Religions of man are in The Father’s sight less than wheelbarrows. Stop pretending – when you stop pushing, your religion stops. God’s Holy Salvation has the power to take you UP in the end.

“The excercise of faith in the promises which offer the victory

must be persisted in, regardless of feeling, until it becomes a fixed habit.”

– M W Knapp, / Revival Kindlings/

Sleep is voluntary. We purposely close our eyes to sleep. And, when we’re asleep we do not see things – either right or wrong – around us. If some readers would be honest they’d say, “I don’t see something like I used to; I don’t see anything wrong with “x.” Friend, bestir yourself. You are asleep & dangerously so.

“Yield & Trust are the two keys that open…the soul temple for the Holy Spirit to enter & the same keys, & they are the only ones, will lock Him in. Don’t lose them nor lay them aside for one moment.”

– M W Knapp, / Revival Kindlings/
