1Ti 4.13

“Till I come, give attendance to READING,

to exhortation, to doctrine.” [emphasis added]

Fame is like a river, that beareth up things light & swollen

& drowns things weighty & solid.”

– Francis Bacon

If you parent, find the Bible boring don’t be surprised if you child doesn’t warm to It. If on the other hand, you share with your mate at the breakfast (dinner or supper) table a recent “jewel” you found in God’s eternal Book, you may be planting a seed so that Johnny or Suzie will dig into the Bible on their own. Won’t that be wonderful? Well – – – wouldn’t it?

Prosperity is the blessing of the Old Testament,

adversity is the blessing of the New.”

– Francis Bacon

If I were to meet her* I couldn’t speak

Her language; could only smile & nod.

But she, praying in the Himalayan foothills,

Has my same Father; we’ve the same God.

* [Praying the Lord of Harvest to send forth prayers

in the foothills of the Himalayas, this AM.]

“When a man is not really right

he’d rather not meet the true prophet of God.”

– V O Agan, sermon, 2/12/98

The Lord’s allowed this country boy to minister in several countries, among them Russia. (I first heard of it in the 4th grade, never expecting to visit it.) I enjoyed seeing their land & waterways; I liked the people; I relished their borsch but I didn’t buy a dacha or a hectare of land. Why? My home was elsewhere. Please use care, Friend. Don’t become attached to this earth. If you love Christ, your home is above the blue.

Mat 7.22

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? & in thy name have cast out devils? & in thy name done many wonderful works?”

You had a friend/relative who was raised Biblical on “A” & “B.” They chaffed. They wanted an easier way to be a “christian” & moved to a church which smiled on their choices. They died. It’s normal to hope they went to heaven but you know their year’s-old-change was on purpose. I beg of you – don’t assume YOU also can neglect the Bible on “A” & “B.” Your friend/relative may have gone below (there’s nothing you or they can change now) but *you* can so love Jesus that “A” & “B” will be easily & lovingly done for His sake. Please, Friend, do NOT assume they’re in heaven if they rejected Scriptural teachings.

“You can tell a false prophet not so much by what he preaches

as by what he doesn’t preach.”

– V O Agan, quoted by Vernon Shockley
