1Ti 1.7

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;

but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

“…Predestination…

represents God as the author of sin.”

– John Fletcher /Works II/

18 of 46 “…Pride & arrogancy…do I hate”(Pro 8.13).

Pro 16.18 PRIDE goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

“…all who attack the doctrine of an evangelically sinless perfection, deserve…

the name advocates of sin better than of Gospel ministers…”

– John Fletcher /Works II/

LOOK UP

When you’re tempted to look down,

Look up.

When you’re tempted to wear a frown,

Look up.

When your friends seem to be few,

When sunshine fails to come through,

When you don’t know what else to do,

Look up.  – eab,  5/20/07

If there’s good in an eab post, Give God the Glory [three G’s – easy to remember].

If I’m wrong, please, if it’s Bad Blame Bryan [three B’s – also easy to remember].

Psa 119.165

“Great peace have they which love thy law:

and nothing shall offend them.”

The only place I ever saw her was at the bank – she was a teller. I’d guess her sixty-ish, with “black” hair but near her part it was gray. A few days/weeks later I saw the gray strip was wider. After consideration I decided I’d compliment her on going natural. She was doing the right thing but it had to be hard – letting people know that she’d been faking it all this time. It would’ve been easier to have slowly allowed the gray to come in, it would’ve saved present humiliation, would’ve saved who-knows-how much time in dying, & how much money.

I could wish all who dye, would stop before they die. – 5/19/19

“…No Christian is to enter any further into business nor for any other ends than such as he can in singleness of heart offer to God…Take this away from tradesmen & shops are but so many houses of greediness & filthy lucre…Take this away from our diversions & you will find no sports too silly nor any entertainments to vain & corrupt to be the pleasure of Christians..”

– Wm Law /Serious Call…Life/

In case you don’t know – you’re under no obligation to call a catholic priest “father.” Even if there were no verse against it (there is “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven” Mat 23.9) he is not *Your* father. (Their system teaches he’s to be celibate, so he shouldn’t be a dad.) Be respectful, but no more than to any other man. Nor are you required to say “pope” (word also means “father”) about their head man.

“The merchant is no longer to hoard up treasures on earth. The soldier is not longer to fight for glory, the great scholar is no longer to pride himself in the depths of science; but they must all with one spirit ‘count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus.’”

– Wm Law /Serious Call…Life/
