1Co 7.39
“The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead,
she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.”
Dad, if you have no manual skill to pass on to your son, I’d encourage you to prayerfully chose a trade or skill you’d like to master & you two learn it together. “I’d be embarrassed.” Possibly. But would it not be better to be a little embarrassed when he is 8, as to have taught him nothing when he leaves home at 18? Or chose (again with prayer) a skill in which he’d like to be competent & you learn it with him. You’ll make mistakes, but even those (if you’re able to laugh at yourself) can be memory makers. – 7/3/19
“Philosophers, unable to guide mankind to true happiness,
are vainly searching after it themselves.”
– John Fletcher, /Works 3/
My wife & I returned early Monday afternoon from staying with her mother several days so her sister & b-n-l could attend Camp Meeting at Pell City. Also because Linda Bragg, who’s a great help to my m-n-l, took her elderly dad, Bro Baker, to the same camp. Sooo grateful for a safe trip down mid crowds of cars. And happy also for a safe trip home. Left early to beat the heat as our car AC is not running right. This also gave us less traffic. Came home to a garden which God watered. Picked small basket of snap peas (enjoyed a few for lunch) & several green beans from the earlier plants. Praise the Lord. 7/9/19
“…It is necessary to eradicate pride from the heart & to subdue the irregular appetites of our degenerate nature. This is undoubtedly the most difficult task to be accomplished in life…”
– John Fletcher, /Works 3/
REFLECTING ON THE YUKON
The water below me is “coffee, with cream.”
But the water out there is blue, it would seem.
Maybe beauty is not always in the eye;
Sometimes it’s a reflection of God’s perfect sky. – eab, July ‘96
“He said…‘Are you going to persist in the ministry without the Divine preparation…?’
Sanctification makes you meet for the Master’s use & prepares you for every good work…”
– J B McBride
The amount of “skin” I see (in pics & in person) on those attending careful churches, doesn’t predict a bright future for the holiness movement. “Preacher, it’s more than clothing!” Of course it is. But, think about this, a desire to wear worldly styles (on any but new converts) suggests a deeper, more serious problem. Please die out to this world & make every preparation to enjoy a holy heaven. – 7/9/19
Rev 6.11
“…White robes were given unto every one of them & it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season…”
“One can be joyful, happy, & congenial; but there is no place where we can be trifling,
light & funny & live in this inner-circle with Jesus.’”
– J B McBride
Jesus did Not say, “…Love the Lord thy God…” (Mar 12.30) with Most of thy heart, Nor with 90% of thy soul, Nor with almost-all of thy mind, Nor 99% of thy strength. He called for all, All, ALL, A L L. Is this a reality, my Friend, in your life? In mine? “Amen” or “O, me” – which will it be? – 7/9/19
