1Pe 2.11
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers & pilgrims,
abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”
38 of 46 “…Pride & arrogancy…do I hate”(Pro 8.13).
Oba 3 The PRIDE of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
“His [Christ’s] presence did not drain you.”
– Carl M Eisenhart, sermon 2/11/18
To, when needed, apologize,
Is more important than to theologize.
– eab, 8/20/10
“When the church stays away from the altar
the world will stay away in a greater measure.”
– Carl M Eisenhart, 8/5/19
Your eyes are windows: You see out through them & friends see into your soul through them.
Your mouth is a door. Food & drink go into your body through it. Words, groans, whistles come out of your soul through it. – 8/15/19
Heb 10.39
“But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition;
but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”
Why Read The Bible? The KJV came near the time “English” was being formed. King James was (as I understand) the most literary man who has occupied a throne. He’s said to have written more while King than any other reigning monarch. Happenstance? Probably not. James translated not a whiff of It, but his writing abilities enabled him to choose the best men to prepare this translation. When you read the Authorized Version Bible you’re reading a gem of “English” in its primary years. Enjoy! – 8/16/19
“If you’re a good listener,
He’s a good Leader.”
– Ken Thompson sermon, IHC, 4/17/18
You feel God is calling you to preach. You don’t feel He’s directing you to a Bible college. A problem? Not at all. Methodism’s greatest days were when few of their British or Am. men had a college education. What they did have was a deep desire to know & obey God. They spent hours a week studying His Word. And hours in prayer – a great training combination. Read your Bible systematically (Let God lead you to His system for you – no one knows your personality like He does.) Read only a few other books making sure they agree with Scripture. Preach the Word. – 8/20/19
“Pray without ceasing – like a mother with a sick child;
she may do other things but her mind is on the child”
– Ken Thompson, sermon 10/3/05
