“Give her of the fruit of her hands; &

let her own works praise her in the gates.”

“Spirit-filled hearts are always tender & they see men

through the tears of holy compassion.”

– Samuel  Chadwick

Have you, yes – You, read your Bible through? Have you read this Holy Book through in one year? If not, for what are you waiting? I can’t see a better time than 2020 to do what every person who can read, should do – what every person who professes to know Christ, should do. “It is a big goal!” Yes, in a sense it is but do-able. Read 3 chapter each weekday & 5 on the Lord’s Day – if you get behind, CATCH up! – 12/31/19

“Let – the key word in Christianity.”

– Ray Chamberlain

Every future moment

Every future moment is already in God’s hands,

Every future conflict He already understands.

Every future burden He cares about today,

Every future victory God owns – let Him lead the way. – eab, Dec 2009

“Headmasters have powers at their disposal with which

prime ministers have never yet been invested.”

– Winston Churchill

Please, do not consider yourself educated if you’ve not read the Bible – read It in Its entirety. “But, I have a PhD in _ _ _ _.” If it was God’s will for you (& if you actually did all the academic work) congratulations.  Now step up & read the greatest Classic in English, the KJV. “But, I’ve mastered the disciplines of _ _ _ _  AND _ _ _ _ _.” Sorry, if you’ve never read the History, Poetry, & Prophets of the OT, if you’ve not perused the Gospels, Epistles, & Revelation you are lacking in your education. – 12/31/19

2Ti 3.15

“…the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation

through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

Making New Year’s resolutions? How long will you keep them?  Be honest.  It is far better to change With Vivid Determination on some other date & keep it, as to go off “half-cocked” tomorrow & fail. Your only way to change for Eternity, is to allow Jesus Christ to come in & set your house in order. Without Christ New Year Resolutions fall flat & fail. Obey the Lord & then you can really change. 12/31/19

33 of 47 “…Give ear; be not PROUD: for the LORD hath spoken”(Jer 13.15)

* Jer 13.15 Hear ye, and give ear; be not PROUD: for the LORD hath spoken. *

One of the characteristics of all Christians is that they THINK. (Agreed, some more, some less J.) Thinking is what separates mere church attendees from true followers of Christ. Worldly church attendees are not doing much long-range thinking. Christians have taken a look at Eternity, thought things through, & decided, by God’s grace, to go straight. – 1/19/19

“No, my sinner friend, there is no such things as company in Hell.

The other fellow is too busy with his own suffering to comfort you.”

– J Wesley Adcock

DECEMBER WOODS

December’s woods are cool woods.

Woods are never cold –

Cold is impersonal.

Woods have nature’s mold.

December’s woods are gray woods;

Gray – or are they brown?

Perhaps somewhere in between

The true hue can be found.

December’s woods are straight woods,

Bare and tall and straight.

Like the masts of sail boats,

Resting at harbor’s gate.

December’s woods are wet woods.

Whither snow or sleet or rain,

They paint the trees darker shades,

Until sun blesses them again.

December’s woods are quiet woods,

Calm, tranquil, serene.

Palmates & pinnates rustle no more.

The twigs are all clean.

– eab, 12/30/77

“Who is it that loves God &

does not wish to love Him with all the heart.”

– V O Agan

A new convert speaks of feeling “light” & as he walks with God that “light” feeling remains. Sinners, by contrast feel heavy. This lightness can grow & grow until the saint Rises at the end, Rises up to heaven. The heaviness the sinner senses, grows to a greater weight, & at the end of a sinful life will act as a weight to pull him down to hell. (Stated somewhat tongue-n-cheek but may have more truth to it than first appears.)   1/19/19

Rev 22.21

“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”

“Opinions above holiness are just as dangerous

& inevitably false as opinions below it.”

– Jesse T Peck

In the spring of the 7th grade the Lord redeemed me. Not long afterwards I started “Amening” the preacher. (People may have seen it odd that a 13-14 yr old was saying “Amen” but we had more “Amens” L back then.) Many years later a student (I had no idea he were watching) observed that I didn’t say “Amen” to everything.   No. Nor should you; “Amen” truth but with discretion. Think about it before you assent verbally or with a raised hand. 1/20/19

Christians are never cruel to their fellow “christians” whether they agree or disagree in theology.

Christians are not cruel to the enemies of christianity (if they have the upper-hand in their culture) or carnally resentful (if their enemies have the upper-hand). – 12/27/19

young as you’ll be

This thing called age

Has reached a new stage,

I’m older than I ever used to be;

Why – – – I’ve never been this old before!

Smile not with superiority,

At what’s happen’ to me;

You can’t either keep time outside /your/ door

You’re now as young as you’ll ever be. – eab, 12/29/16

“…Wealth lessens rather than increases human happiness.

Millionaires who laugh are rare.”

– Andrew Carnegie

Many yrs ago I taught biology. There are 6 things about living things: they move, grow, respond to stimuli, assimilate materials, they reproduce & they die. Though humans are on a much higher level than plants or any animal (“evilution” is a lie) we share these 6 characteristics including death. You & I, Friend are headed to death. Are you prepared to die? If you are, you can work for Christ & enjoy life in the meantime. Until you are ready to die, neither wealth nor health satisfy: Never have, Never will. 12/27/19

Deu 9.24

“Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.”

Too many souls, Far too many, revel in being a Rebel. (Having pastored & taught south of the Mason-Dixon Line a number of yrs, I recognize “rebel” is almost a sacred word.) Rebel – its 1st Biblical occurrence is “Only rebel not ye against the Lord…”(Num 14.9) & its last is “…They assemble themselves for corn & wine & they rebel against me”(Hos 7.14). Here, as with some other areas, we must try to separate from the culture surrounding us & live the Biblical life. – 12/28/19

There’s a danger that Christians become too involved in politics. With due respect, we’re not responsible for the success of America, England, Israel, any Other (state) Under the sun. Nor are we responsible for the failure of A. E. I. O. U. Our allegiance goes much higher, to the Kingdom of God. As we’re true to His Kingdom we’ll be “salt” to some land, separate from that land, but “salt” in it. NOTE: Please post any rebuttal on your page not here. Some Christians (IMO) need to read & heed this. – 12/27/19

SWINGING SPHERES

Little perfect balls on a large scaly tree,

You make me wonder if you have a message for me.

I am curious why, you are suspended there,

Between earth and sky. Just for seed?

Do you bear a report? Do you have a word,

From another world that should be heard?

Maybe another time, in another place,

That message I can find. It will be freed. – eab, Dec. 1965

– V O Agan

Heaven for mankind is a combination of choices: God chose to save you; you chose to agree with Him.

Hell is a combination of choices: satan tries to take your attention from God’s Salvation (to see you damned) & you chose to listen to the worst enemy of your soul. Friend, someday you time of choosing will end. Someday your choice: God or satan, will be FINAL. – 12/28/19

Your posted pics reflect the heart: your family (I’m glad you love them), your travels (I’ve enjoyed traveling, a lot, for a poor man), your pet, car, truck (nothing wrong with these, unless you love them too much). Some pics on fb show too much skin, show newest jewelry, show you doing what you might not want to be doing when you die. But all, good or bad they reflect your heart. – 12/28/19

It is a good day when you start to realize that “Propaganda” (whether you agree with it or not) begins with the “word” prop. Prop (among other meanings) is an imitation wall, door, window etc in a play/movie, made to look real but is as fake as a $3 bill. There’s been a lot of propaganda during WWI, WWII, there’s a lot in the world today, & sadly, even church leaders use, & are themselves swayed by it. – 12/19/19

CATHEDRAL OF OAKS

Today I sat in a cathedral – of oaks,

And watched the mighty sun,

Enter in devotion-like rays,

Before he began his run,

Of supplying ever welcome days.

His slants came through like so many spokes,

Light strokes, in the cathedral of oaks.

God is a God of infinite variety. Look at leaves, look at sunsets, look at snowflakes; all definitely God-made. Some men (being creative) like to make things alike (in fact may pride themselves in such). Have you learned “…to weep with them that weep”? You may not have known “her” deceased dad or “their” dead child, but you can do your best to sympathize. Imagine how you’d feel if it were your dad or your child. Pray for them, as opportunity arises, pray WITH them, seeing them as a fellow human in one of life’s darkest hours.

FAITHFUL TO DUTY (16th card)

If shepherds hadn’t been watching their charge,

As all good shepherds do.

If they hadn’t been dutifully faithful.

In spite of damp and dew.

If men of sheep hadn’t sheep-minded been

The long winter night through,

They’d have missed that chorus grandly suspended,

Announcing centuries of prophecy ended,

In notes and quality, in minors and ranges, so large –

Masterfully blended.

If wise men hadn’t been looking upward,

As wise men want to do.

If ancient scholars hadn’t known the sky

And humbly knew, they knew.

If star-spangled men hadn’t known their “flag,”

The night that star first flew,

They’d have missed the invitation of all earth,

To rejoice in the King of Creation’s birth;

The astronomical discovery worthy of reward –

Announcing Royal worth. – eab, Dec  1980

Second only to Scripture is the power of saintly songs. (The second best book you can own, after the Holy Bible, is a quality old hymnal.) Do you sing to yourself as you drive tractor, truck, car? As you work? Do you whistle hymns? Though the Lord has given me over 2 score songs/choruses, I still need to warn you, too much of modern “christian music” is chaff. Please do not get caught up in catchy tunes or fast melodies. If the words do not have Meat, if the words are not Scriptural, it’s chaff. -12/23/19
