“Give her of the fruit of her hands; &

“Spirit-filled hearts are always tender & they see men

through the tears of holy compassion.”

– Samuel  Chadwick

Have you, yes – You, read your Bible through? Have you read this Holy Book through in one year? If not, for what are you waiting? I can’t see a better time than 2020 to do what every person who can read, should do – what every person who professes to know Christ, should do. “It is a big goal!” Yes, in a sense it is but do-able. Read 3 chapter each weekday & 5 on the Lord’s Day – if you get behind, CATCH up! – 12/31/19

Every future moment is already in God’s hands,

Every future conflict He already understands.

Every future burden He cares about today,

Every future victory God owns – let Him lead the way. – eab, Dec 2009

Please, do not consider yourself educated if you’ve not read the Bible – read It in Its entirety. “But, I have a PhD in _ _ _ _.” If it was God’s will for you (& if you actually did all the academic work) congratulations.  Now step up & read the greatest Classic in English, the KJV. “But, I’ve mastered the disciplines of _ _ _ _  AND _ _ _ _ _.” Sorry, if you’ve never read the History, Poetry, & Prophets of the OT, if you’ve not perused the Gospels, Epistles, & Revelation you are lacking in your education. – 12/31/19

2Ti 3.15

“…the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation

through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

Making New Year’s resolutions? How long will you keep them?  Be honest.  It is far better to change With Vivid Determination on some other date & keep it, as to go off “half-cocked” tomorrow & fail. Your only way to change for Eternity, is to allow Jesus Christ to come in & set your house in order. Without Christ New Year Resolutions fall flat & fail. Obey the Lord & then you can really change. 12/31/19

33 of 47 “…Give ear; be not PROUD: for the LORD hath spoken”(Jer 13.15)

* Jer 13.15 Hear ye, and give ear; be not PROUD: for the LORD hath spoken. *

One of the characteristics of all Christians is that they THINK. (Agreed, some more, some less J.) Thinking is what separates mere church attendees from true followers of Christ. Worldly church attendees are not doing much long-range thinking. Christians have taken a look at Eternity, thought things through, & decided, by God’s grace, to go straight. – 1/19/19

The other fellow is too busy with his own suffering to comfort you.”

DECEMBER WOODS

December’s woods are cool woods.

Woods are never cold –

Cold is impersonal.

Woods have nature’s mold.

December’s woods are gray woods;

Gray – or are they brown?

Perhaps somewhere in between

The true hue can be found.

December’s woods are straight woods,

Bare and tall and straight.

Like the masts of sail boats,

Resting at harbor’s gate.

December’s woods are wet woods.

Whither snow or sleet or rain,

They paint the trees darker shades,

Until sun blesses them again.

December’s woods are quiet woods,

Calm, tranquil, serene.

Palmates & pinnates rustle no more.

The twigs are all clean.

– eab, 12/30/77

“Who is it that loves God &

does not wish to love Him with all the heart.”

– V O Agan

A new convert speaks of feeling “light” & as he walks with God that “light” feeling remains. Sinners, by contrast feel heavy. This lightness can grow & grow until the saint Rises at the end, Rises up to heaven. The heaviness the sinner senses, grows to a greater weight, & at the end of a sinful life will act as a weight to pull him down to hell. (Stated somewhat tongue-n-cheek but may have more truth to it than first appears.)   1/19/19

In the spring of the 7th grade the Lord redeemed me. Not long afterwards I started “Amening” the preacher. (People may have seen it odd that a 13-14 yr old was saying “Amen” but we had more “Amens” L back then.) Many years later a student (I had no idea he were watching) observed that I didn’t say “Amen” to everything.   No. Nor should you; “Amen” truth but with discretion. Think about it before you assent verbally or with a raised hand. 1/20/19

Many yrs ago I taught biology. There are 6 things about living things: they move, grow, respond to stimuli, assimilate materials, they reproduce & they die. Though humans are on a much higher level than plants or any animal (“evilution” is a lie) we share these 6 characteristics including death. You & I, Friend are headed to death. Are you prepared to die? If you are, you can work for Christ & enjoy life in the meantime. Until you are ready to die, neither wealth nor health satisfy: Never have, Never will. 12/27/19

Deu 9.24

“Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.”

Too many souls, Far too many, revel in being a Rebel. (Having pastored & taught south of the Mason-Dixon Line a number of yrs, I recognize “rebel” is almost a sacred word.) Rebel – its 1st Biblical occurrence is “Only rebel not ye against the Lord…”(Num 14.9) & its last is “…They assemble themselves for corn & wine & they rebel against me”(Hos 7.14). Here, as with some other areas, we must try to separate from the culture surrounding us & live the Biblical life. – 12/28/19

There’s a danger that Christians become too involved in politics. With due respect, we’re not responsible for the success of America, England, Israel, any Other (state) Under the sun. Nor are we responsible for the failure of A. E. I. O. U. Our allegiance goes much higher, to the Kingdom of God. If shepherds hadn’t been watching their charge,

As all good shepherds do.

If they hadn’t been dutifully faithful.

In spite of damp and dew.

If men of sheep hadn’t sheep-minded been

If ancient scholars hadn’t known the sky

And humbly knew, they knew.

If star-spangled men hadn’t known their “flag,”

The night that star first flew,

To rejoice in the King of Creation’s birth;

The astronomical discovery worthy of reward –

Announcing Royal worth. – eab, Dec  1980
