“The lot causeth contentions to cease, & parteth between the mighty.”

29 of 47 “…Give ear; be not PROUD: for the LORD hath spoken”(Jer 13.15)

Ecc 7.8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the PROUD in spirit.

“We find that morally insane people

get excited over trifles but never over serious realities.”

– R G Flexon

When your final day comes to its end,

Your obit is read by foe or friend,

What’s the great thing you want it to say?

Is it the deed you just did today?

What would you change? What would you amend?

“Love is modest: it rather inclines to bashfuness & silence

than to talkative forwardness.”

– John Fletcher

Manger scenes surround us at “christmas.” How many of them are Biblical? Were there a sheep there? None are mentioned, so it’s our imagination – may not be wrong but “manger” can fit cattle also. There were shepherds & as the word is plural the exact number is open. Were there wise men at the manager? Most definitely not. “But they’re so picturesque there.” Yes, & there-in lies part of our “christmas” problem; dividing what appeals to human sight from what Scriptures actually record. Let us be Biblical. – 12/16/19

Luk 2.12

“And this shall be a sign unto you;

Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’”

“God has everything you need

to do everything He asks [of] you.”

– Steve Stetler

You’ve noticed (surely you’ve noticed) that Heaven sends down such needed things as mist & rain & such lovely things as frost & snow. Hell – if it has a geographical location – appears to be below. (The two words “hell” & “down” are both found in at least 12 verses.) If you’ve visited Yellow Stone & smelled the cauldron, it’s easy to imagine that’s a smell from hell below. Friend – flee to Christ & let him break all ties you have with hell or hellish ways. 12/16/19

“Quietness without ‘quietism’ became a characteristic of them

[the sanctified @ Dublin] as a class…”

– Able Stevens
