“A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment:

for if thou deliver [him] yet thou must do it again.”

If you know someone who (far as you know) has no family who’ll be with them for the Special Days, you might consider including them in apart of your Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Years Eve, New Years Day dinner/supper/social-snack time. “But it might ruin OUR family time.” Or, friend, it might make a memory you’d cherish for years. Please pray about giving time, giving a place at your table, giving THEM a brighter spot than they would’ve had otherwise. – 12/19/19

“You are in danger…if you depart ever so little from Scripture…

from the plain literal meaning of any text taken in connection with the context.”

– Wesley, quoted by R S Foster

One of the most misused words is “christian.” Many follow the traditions of the Roman Catholics & see themselves as “christian.” Others adhere to the traditions of the Greek Orthodox/other orthodox or Coptics & perceive themselves “christian.” Some follow (more or less) the ideas of Baptists, Lutherans or Methodists & thereby use the word “christian.” In reality the only people who’re Christians are those whose life is patterned after the teaching & example of Jesus Christ. Are YOU a Christian? – 12/16/19

“Have you remembered how easy it is to construe

a mere infirmity of judgment or indiscretion of manner.”

– R S Foster

HOLIDAY vs. HOLINESS

Some want Christ’s “holiday,”

Want the free time.

They refuse Christ’s “Holiness”

Rejecting purity – they accept slime.

“Preach doctrine, preach all the doctrine that you know…but preach it always

not that men may believe it but that men maybe saved by believing it.”

– Phillips Brooks

Earth can be beautiful – I’ve been privileged to stand on both rims of the Grand Canyon, see the shore (& fly high above) both the Atlantic & Pacific oceans, hike miles in the Smokies & drive through several parts of the Rockies. If God’s footstool is so lovely, try, that’s right Try, for that’s all we can do, to imagine how gorgeous, how magnificent His Throne (heaven, Act 7.49) must be. Are you making reservations to go? -12/19/19

Act 7.48 – 49

“Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands…

“Heaven is my throne & earth is my footstool…

Have you learned to, “Rejoice with them that do rejoice…”? Have you even tried? No, it wasn’t “your” party. The shindig was not about you or even “yours.” She may not have been your choice for his bride, you maybe would have chosen her a different husband but they appear (hopefully really are) happy; Rejoice. If you haven’t learned to do this, you ought to make it a matter of prayer. Paul was serious when he penned (under Holy inspiration) the 12th chapter of Romans. – 12/19/19

“When he [Pascal] died [1622] his friends found sewed up in his doublet…a paper ‘God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob – not of philosphers…God of Jesus Christ…’”

– quoted by Andrew W Blackwood
