Lev 19.18 +

Lev 19.18

“Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people,

but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.”

“The only way of knowing the Holy Spirit is by possessing Him

& being possessed by Him…”

– Daniel Steele, S T D

You were born with a capacity to worship & a will as to who/what you worship. The ideal is to adorn God. If you refuse to worship the Almighty you’ll end up worshipping another god (small “g”). Many a modern woman worships a tiny, temporary “god” – – – herself. And, “Hear This,” as a statue has to be re-painted & repainted, she daily repaints her face, often repaints her nails etc. Stop worshipping yourself. Worship GOD! – 1/29/20

“Every mind in which the Holy Spirit dwells

instinctively turns away in disgust from the chaff of ritualism.”

– Daniel Steele, S T D

When God allows a little tension here

Or tightens things over there.

He’s not being cruel. Never is He unfair.

He’s doing what a Musician does

He’s bringing your life, your string

To His perfect pitch, He’s helping you to “sing,”

Preparing you to fit in His orchestra all grand,

Who’re gathering now on eternity’s strand.

Trust Him child, He knows the sound He hears;

When we hear it, we’ll agree – though. through. tears.

– eab, 1/15/16

“O, that the Holy Ghost, the blessed Comforter, would now come down &

convince those that are Christ-less amongst you, of sin, of righteousness & of judgment!”

– George Whitefield

People go south to bask in the sun, savoring its warm & light. They are willing to invest the miles & money to do so. Lord help us see a far greater need is to Bask in the Warm & Light of His Risen Son. Are we willing (God help us) to invest time & energy in a prayer closet to enjoy The Presence of His Son? – 1/30/20

Joh 8.36

“If the Son therefore shall make you free,

ye shall be free indeed.”

It must be sad when a person is imprisoned; restricted in freedom, forced to eat this (& this only), not free to change from bondage clothing. It’s possibly worse, when a person imprisons him/herself; that’s what sinners do. Their sinful habits & distorted desires keep from being free to move-in-the-Spirit, they “eat” the same old sinful addictions, they dress like other sinners (afraid to be different). Christ came, sinner, that you can be free. The devil has you believing you are “free.” No. He is the biggest of all liars. – 1/31/20

“When general Grant was in Paris, the president of the Republic invited him to attend the Sunday races…he politely declined…saying, “It is not in accord with the custom of my country or the spirit of my religion to spend Sunday in that way. I will go to the house of God.”

“For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God:

ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Pastor, have you, yes You, died out to sports? Brother, have you admitted to yourself that sports are a major god of this world? (satan has used them to get people’s minds off Eternity.) Don’t let sports attract youth to your church. Let the moving of the Blessed Holy Ghost attract them. “But there’s a price to having Him move.” True but being willing to pray & obey. Lead away from (not toward) sports. They are so temporary. – 1/29/20

“A sinner in the pulpit is the most dangerous man in the land.”

– Uncle Buddy Robinson

PLEASE, “PLEASE”

Going to heaven may seem hard for

The one struggling to “cross all the tees;”

But it’s easier for the one

Simply willing Christ to please.

We should never grow weary of writing and reading about Jesus.”

– John Newton

We tend to like a man who is consistent: If he was opposed to going bowling, for example, last year he’ll be opposed this year. You may not agree with his positions (in all honesty his stand may “bug you” a little) but you DO like him being consistent. And, if you like Someone who is consistent, then you’re going to Love God, the most consistent Being ever. – 1/29/20

1Jo 2.15

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.

If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

What is culture worth if it is but the whitewash on a rascal? I would rather be in heaven learning my A, B, C’s than sitting in hell reading Greek.”

– Sam Jones

What is your attitude toward God? No, don’t say what you know your minister would want you to say. No, don’t try to sound pious. Truly, what is your attitude to the Almighty? Do you secretly hate God? Or are you trying to ignore Him? Or are you “OK” with Him being Creator but have no interest in Him being your Savior? Your attitude toward Him may be His “attitude” toward you when the death rattle is in your throat & your finger nails are turning blue. – 1/30/20

then you don’t have to bury him.”

Question – with a good attitude – but still question, anything/everything you see on TV, movies (hollywood/disney/ “christian”), & ALL “news” outlets. “Are you sowing dissension, Bryan?” I’m trying to help you & yours, to help our children, our grandkids & great-grands to avoid a life of bondage to sin. We’ve never lived in an age with more Images. The eye has a direct path of to your brain. Stop believing all you see. 1/27/20

uncommon hill

History’s most famous land is an Uncommon Hill,

It’s the hill upon which the Savoir died,

Pierced by thorn, cruelly crucified.

History is a series of events,

Random, some seem, full of dings and dents,

Brilliant or scarred, free or barred

Filling all the past [if history fills all the past].

History also has to have its land,

On which acts start and then expand,

Events all pass, the land lasts.

History plays out on real valley and hill,

By river’s bend, by bays, as tides fill.

History did not act out into thin air

History takes place on dirt and sod,

Some of it for, some against God.

All of history took place on land

On rocky rise, on stretches of sand

History fills time’s line completely full,

Ethereal-like, exciting or more dull.

Real history covers slopes and scarps,

Little knolls, rolling plains, hills and sharps.

The greatest history took place on an Uncommon Hill.

– eab, 1/23/11

“…A mind may be permanently soiled by unsavory conversations, books ‘off color’…some books are without any…bad pages…yet the subtle character of the writer thru his words damages the pure white of the young reader’s mind.”

– J M Ludlow

Do not trust people who wear masks. People who love a masquerade find it easier to flirt (IMO) with some else’s wife or husband than they would without the mask. People who show up at rallies in masks will be (IMO) more reckless than they would without one. People who rob banks wear masks. But the worst “masked” people are teachers/preachers who were “on the right”, switched “to the left,” but don’t want their followers to know. 1/28/20

“…And the people sat down to eat and to drink,

Please friend, so live NOW that you can later “re-live” your memory-scenes with pleasure. I’ve tried to pastor in 5 states & Canada, and teach in 3 states (more than once in 2 of those). I fondly remember my praying places both while pastoring & teaching. I am not saying I’ve been a great prayer, but am so thankful for the place(s) in each locality where God condescended to meet His unworthy servant. -1/27/20

“The only hope of the drunkard or the thief is 1st in the birth of the Spirit, & 2nd in the baptism with the Holy Ghost & fire. This is the only remedy. This will make an honest man out of a rascal & a sober man out of a drunkard. The nature of man must be cleansed and purified.”

– Uncle Buddy Robinson

When you & I are stretched out stiff & cold,

And the soul has left its God-shaped mold,

And questions spread among friend & foe

How long was he sick? How did he go?

When was he born? Was he *that* old?

We’ll not hear this twitter, not one word

If we’ve lived for Him (That was His choice.

He invited us to, if we but heard His voice.)

We’ll have heard the greatest words e’er said,

“Well done.”

Oh, I want to hear them, when you think I’m dead.

“No one will ever go into despair

while he feels God cares for him.”

– B T Roberts

It sounds too horrible to be true but satan is pushing his dupes toward reducing world population. Armies have killed other armies for millennia: blade, bullet, bomb. Evil men have massacred unarmed groups for centuries. Sadly, in recent decades even “members of health care” have killed the unwanted, the unhealthy, the un-young. All the while God’s words to Noah & sons to “…Multiply & replenish the earth”(Gen 9.1) haven’t been revoked. God says multiply, satan says kill off – true pictures of contrast. 1/28/20

A conversion isn’t worth anything unless it’s a double conversion.

A man must be converted from something to something.”

– Sam Jones

The devil & his children will deceive you if possible. On one side, they’d like you to believe there are millions upon millions of “christians” (not mentioning the broad definition of “christian”). On the other side, he’d like you to think you’re crazy – hardly anyone believes as you do. He is a liar. Going to heaven is about as individual “as it gets.” Fellowship with whom you can. Be kind to those with whom you can’t fellowship but keep you sights on the Celestial City. God love you & WANTS you with Him. – 1/28/20

Audiences should not be saying, “Look what he can do” (reaching a certain note, making something “disappear” or throwing his voice. (Of course magic or ventriloquism do not belong in church, ever.) Oh, that audiences who say, “Look what God can do/is doing.” If the church building is truly God’s house, He deserves the praise & adoration for all good that is done there. Now & Always! – 1/27/20

“…Hundreds of people are studying psychology, which is the study of ‘what makes you act as you do.’ You know what makes you act the way you do, it is either the Lord or the devil in you.

We don’t have to study a lot of books to figure out why people act as they do.”

Every sinner who hears of a Sinless One,

Every father who hears God had a Son,

Every planner who hears Redemption is done,

Is drawn to Christ.

The only way to reach heaven’s door,

The only way to tread the golden “floor,”

The only way to enjoy Redemption & more,

Is through the blood of Christ.

Christ is the Key to heaven’s lock,

Christ is the pure Shepherd of a pure flock,

Christ is the center of creation’s calendar & clock.

The only hope for all is Christ.

Children like to pretend, but oh, if only pretending stopped there. A place called hollywood has many “adult-sized” children who pretend. They dress-up in cowboy stuff & pretend. They put on uniforms & pretend. They don science fiction outfits & pretend. Later they’re remembered as the guy who “played the pope” or the lead role in “x” & make millions. Did the pretenders get your $? Not a dime of mine. – 1/27/20

Did you sing in church yesterday? Did you pick up hymnal, find the page, engage lips, tongue, vocal cords & sing? It you did, you engaged in a type of worship that’s centuries old & (where there were hymnals) world-wide. I care not if you sang lead/soprano, alto/baritone, tenor, or (my favorite since a boy) bass; you sang. That’s great. Hopefully the song leader’s selections included classic hymns. If so you connected with a man/woman of another era, maybe another country, but both of you praising the God of heaven. – 1/27/20

“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”

“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife…”

Children – probably of several ages – who see their mom reading just might try reading themselves. Those who see dad reading (unless they know it’s a part-of-his-job) may be even more likely to experience the pleasure of reading. Please, Dad, Mom, influence your child to read. Reading can be done in the park, the woods, the porch without electricity. Reading can increase your vocabulary. Reading (if you select the right stuff) can give you insights 1.) into parts of the world you’ll never visit, 2.) into history you cannot visit, & 3.) into Christian Truths you should visit. You & I differ on point “B,” “E – sub-point 10” & most of point “Q.” Since we hold varying views You Are Wrong – not necessarily. And, I Am Right – again, not necessarily. We have (yes, both of us) limited, earthy view. You might say, “No, I have a perfect view; you see, I have a doctor’s degree from ‘x’” or “I’ve made a life-long study of this” etc. Sometimes a parent has to smile behind his hand at the words of his three-yr old. Must not God also see how mistaken we can be? Let us be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. And, when we must disagree, do it with love: both vertically & horizontally. – 1/26/20

Out of the Towns of Egypt,

Out of the ghettos of Ham,

With oxen and calf, kid and goat

Ewe and stately old ram,

With bundles on back and head

Breadboards and extra garb,

Marched a nation of men

Who’d recently felt a master’s barb.

Mountain to right of them

Rose in its height,

Mountain to left of them

Cut off all side flight,

While the rumble of chariots

Told their sad ear

That old Pharaoh now

Approached from the rear,

And the wide sea before them

(Their only way to pass)

Lay calm and deadly still

Like a giant looking glass.

There are numerous examples of spiritual things found in the physical world. Here is a wonderful exception. If I were to find a gold mine I would not tell you – you might come, take my gold, & leave me nothing. But spiritually, Christians have found the Mine of Christ, His forgiveness, His purity, & we will tell you about this Mine. WE can share His grace. There is more than enough for us both. Who has influenced your life for God? Have you made a list? I sat down some yrs ago (not that many) & started a list of 10 men who’d positively inspired me. To be honest I’ve never fully filled the 10th spot (maybe because of 2 or 3 who are similar) but #1 was easy. The greatest man I’ve ever known was H. Robb French. Was privileged to hear him preach numerous times but so remember the 1st time, IHC, 1958, Cincy. Today is his DOD. Some people enjoy being a Match-Maker; getting so-n-so to date what’s-her-name. (I can’t encourage you in this: if it “works out” you may get a one-time “Thanks,” if it doesn’t work You may be remembered – with pain – for yrs.) There is one exception. When a couple separate, even divorce, (& neither have a previous, living companion) do all in your power to match-make them again. Pray for them, listen without siding, when time is right have them to your house (no “little ears” around), take them out to eat (well worth what you pay for a meal). Nearly all Holiness & several Evangelical preachers of yesteryear warned the dangers of TV. They were right. To turn a TV on is to open a visual garbage can, right in your living room. You might be able to shut it off when the big rat started to crawl out, might even have swatted a foul bird or two but there were filthy flies which escaped the trash & lodged in minds (young & old). We could see some of that, I think one of the things we failed to see was that all of it, repeat ALL of it, was “make believe.” TV & movies/videos were leading us to accept the false as real. Stop watching hollywood/disney. – 1/23/20

Please do NOT quote hollywood actors/actresses. People who do not watch hollywood/disney’s Make-Believe aren’t impressed that “so-n-so” gives his, right OR left, opinion. . . . You precious Jesus, You loving Lord

Supplied Your men meekness, meekness You afford.

Not weakness under pressure but power to be still,

Awaiting the outcome of a Savior’s loving will.

Oh, the luscious fruit of the Upper room.

Oh, the life that came from an empty tomb.

God give us today a newness of vision,

An awareness that Your miraculous provision,

Stopped not with the shores of distant Galilee,

But flows on today, flows on to me,

And finally temperance You gave without measure;

Having a little can also be great treasure,

Saying “no” to a meal or “no” to a drink

Might make the glutton and drunkard think,

That there’s more to life than plate or cup,

Don’t look down at “de feet” Look up, Look up.

The God who drove the groove, through the ancient sea,

And supplied manna without charge, bill, or fee,

And sent His Comforter in Pentecost past,

Still lives, Still loves, Still yearns to cast,

One’s carnal old troubles away from His men,

And place all the fruit of the Spirit within.

Great God of the Testaments, glorious and bold,

Revisit Your people, as You did of old.

I love you, Lord Jesus, I love you, fine Lord.

Living, eternal, loving, gentle Word. – eab, Jan 2003 [last part of poem]

There’s always a reason a person lies. Millions of lies have been told for money. Lies have been told to not be killed or to get someone (or group) to be killed. Lies have paved the way for marriages & other “deals.” Preachers “tell lies” when they don’t preach the whole Gospel. Teachers/parents repeat lies they were taught in school. Schools/colleges/publishers create lies when they take a theory (perhaps a very weak theory) & either change it to a “fact” or repeat it so often (without saying it’s a theory) until the public assumes it’s a fact. There’s ALWAYS a reason lies are told – Look for it. – 1/21/20
