Gen 32.10 +

Gen 32.10

“I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies

& of all the truth, which thou hast showed unto thy servant…”

“The Spirit unites those who are widely sundered by nationality & different manners.”

– Chrysostom, quoted by Daniel Steele, STD

Parent – you are responsible for what your still-at-home child wears. “But, but she’s (he’s) 16.” Do they eat your taters? Sleep on your beds? Use your gas & electric? “I can’t control them.” Sorry, so sorry to hear that. It is a shame. But there could be a positive; you’re willing to admit you failed. “I didn’t say I’d failed.” Yes, Sir/Ma’am you did – – – when you say you can’t control them. Now with God’s help change that. 1/16/20

“I never say No to God.”

[When asked the secret of his success]

– William Booth

PAID

Grant Lord that the lines I write

Alone, up, in the middle of the night,

May find their way in your fine hour

To a needy soul snared in sin’s power.

Let them see what satan tries to block;

That Christ is the way, their defense, their rock,

And hope is not gone, help is not lost.

Redemption is free; Christ paid the huge cost.

– eab, 1/17/16

“It’s an insult to the intelligence of young people to give them the impression you have to cheapen the Gospel to make it understandable. The medical schools do not simplify their phraseology to please this set. The legal profession hasn’t changed its terminology.”

– Vance Havner

There’s something to be said for silence. Once there was more silence across the earth’s face: before steam engines on boats & on rails, before gasoline engines made their way to road & farm. No, all were not saints in such an era of silence but surely noise distracts. Notice I didn’t even mention radio, CDs, phone. Have you considered “fasting” noise? “But I like it too much.” (Or, more truthfully, “But, I’m addicted.”) Please for your soul’s strength & health increase the silence in your life – you MIGHT like it. -1/16/20

Tit 1.6

“If any be blameless, the husband of one wife,

having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.”

Dad/Mom, are you sure you want “Jr” or Susie following your footsteps? Spending $ like you spend? Using a credit card like you? Do you want them copying your sloppy grammar? Do you want them addicted to a sport as you are? Do you want them to not honor the Lord’s Day as you? Are you sure?

THEY are watching. – 1/17/20

“Among early church…a man could not be

an astrologer, magician, innkeeper, or an idol-maker.”

– J Vernon Jacobs
