Exo 20.12, 13
“Honor thy father & thy mother…”
“Thou shalt not kill.”
In a “winter world” it’s nice to have a stove. Whether it’s new or less, stylish or “old hat” a stove is a wonderful thing – – – If it has a fire in it!!! In a world that’s getting more worldly all the time, it nice to have a church. But, hear it, if the church has no fire, it’s not much better than being outside in the world. Does your church have the fire? Are you, Bro. Are you Sis. praying for the fire? – 1/23/20
“Many a man loses his love for souls, & his power to win them,
by allowing covetousness or financial anxiety to crowd childlike trust out of his heart.”
– Samuel L Brengle
A General
A General in the Grand ‘ole Army fell
Place not laurel wreaths around his great head
For laurel is worthy of the dead
Let shallow words fall ‘round other ears
Reserve for this man the noblest cheers.
– eab, Jan. 1985 [ H Robb French, DOD 1/24 ]
“…Holiness is a state in which there is no anger, malice, blasphemy, hypocrisy, envy, love of ease, selfish desires for good opinion of men, shame of the cross, worldliness, deceit, debate, contention, covetousness, nor evil desire or tendency in the heart.”
– Samuel L Brengle
There are numerous examples of spiritual things found in the physical world. Here is a wonderful exception. If I were to find a gold mine I would not tell you – you might come, take my gold, & leave me nothing. But spiritually, Christians have found the Mine of Christ, His forgiveness, His purity, & we will tell you about this Mine. WE can share His grace. There is more than enough for us both. Do not be angry with the one sharing Christ with you – he’s simply showing you where he found Gold. – 1/22/20
Isa 54.13
“…All thy children shall be taught of the LORD;
& great shall be the peace of thy children.”
“The term original sin was a term first used by the Calvinists…”
– L D Wilcox
Who has influenced your life for God? Have you made a list? I sat down some yrs ago (not that many) & started a list of 10 men who’d positively inspired me. To be honest I’ve never fully filled the 10th spot (maybe because of 2 or 3 who are similar) but #1 was easy. The greatest man I’ve ever known was H. Robb French. Was privileged to hear him preach numerous times but so remember the 1st time, IHC, 1958, Cincy. Today is his DOD. Make your own list & if they are alive, might let them know they made your top ten (if they are not # 1, I doubt I’d mention their “rank” J) – 1/24/20
“What parents use in moderation
the children will take to excess…”
– Donald Winter, sermon 7/1/2000
