You should not be saying “4-letter” i.e. bad words. May I go a step further? There are some “5-letter” words ALSO you shouldn’t be using “Pride” & “Proud.” Time after time I read (fb & other, perhaps) “I’m proud of you” etc. Really? “…God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble”(Jam 4.6) AND “…God resisteth the proud & giveth grace to the humble” (1Pe 5.5) Please, START p.l.e.a.s.i.n.g. Christ & drop these 5-letter words out of mind & mouth. – 2/17/20

I’ve enjoyed seeing mountains stacked

The best trophy does not sit on a shelf, rest in garage or yacht slip, or hang on a wall. The greatest trophy will be received after death & is only “words.” Words from God, Words of most glorious worth; “…Well done, thou good & faithful servant…”(Mat 25.21). Please God, oh, how I want to hear these words.-2/17/20

Who is your hero, DAD? Dad, does your hero wear a uniform: football, navy, basketball, army, baseball, air force, soccer, marines? Don’t be the least surprised if your son ends up in such a uniform – few of which are genuine Christians. Your heroes tend to be discussed around the supper table, or a special trip is made to see them (some even name a child after a “hero”). If “junior” likes you (I surely hope he does) he may look up to the man to whom his dad looks-up. If you profess Christ but your heroes aren’t the men of the cross, please repent & change before you lose your son. – 2/17/20

Heaven (IMO) must have a million enjoyments. The privilege of worshipping God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit being at the extreme top. Somewhere far, far down the line, I can imagine catching sight of people we’ve know on earth. Oh, what great pleasure to see a son, a daughter who we tried to raise right & they are in Heaven. And to see a grandson, a granddaughter raised correctly by their parent, now enthralled with worshipping the Heavenly Father, Son, & Holy Ghost. – 2/13/20

Television has been used by satan to damn unknown numbers of souls. They got hooked: they Had to see the next game. They Had to see the next episode. They Had to see the comedian, cooking demo, murder mystery, space-fiction, auto race. They could’ve turned it off. They knew much of it was fiction but they loved “living in fantasy.” The view of Heaven from hell (Luk 16) will be startlingly real. They may not be able to turn it off though they (IMO) may so wish they could. 2/13/20

Why do you not believe the Bible? (There IS a reason.) Has someone taught you to not trust It? Has some school (or “school of thought”) destroyed your faith in the most reliable Book on earth? Backtrack, find the culprit, & avoid them “like the plague” – that’s what they are. Now, sit down with the Bible (& your coffee or coke, if you like), bow your heart before the Almighty, admit you’ve been wrong to not believe His Book, & ask Him to show you Where & How to read It afresh. Do this today, Friend, today. – 2/15/20

A sinner would not/could not be happy in God’s Pure Heaven. No corner bar. No brothel. No professional ball (this could be a long list). God, of course, has known this so He provided to give man a new heart (long time before Dr Christiaan Barnard did heart transplant 12/3/67 in S. Africa). With a new heart – therefore no longer a sinner – souls are fine with, in fact Love, the Purity of God’s Eternal Heaven. – 2/13/20

If you love God, you can’t hate people. In fact, Jesus said, repeat JESUS said “…Love your enemies…” You can’t hate one democrat. You can totally disagree with socialistic ideas (& I do) but you can’t hate “HIM” or “HER” (with whom did you replace these pronouns?) You can’t hate one republican. You may not like all Mr Trump did (I don’t) but you can’t hate him. You may not like it that I’ve posted a hopefully calming post but you can’t hate me. There’s a REAL danger of “christians” being more political than Christian. 2/14/20

A writer must write & eventually seeks out a nook. Warmer weather may allow a tree house, barn, unheated back porch – colder weather it may be attic, corner of basement, etc. An artist craves a studio, a place to be alone, to be creative & his studio is found in similar locations to the above. A Pray-er must pray. He needs a retreat where he hears from God & God hears from him. Of the three the prayer’s place is the most important: to him for his survival, & to the world for his intercession. Nook, studio, closet: the world can get along without that art, & we probably can do without the book but O, how we need prayer. Hie thee to thy closet friend. – 2/14/20

If the “holiness preacher” does not preach holiness – who will? I fear too many “holiness” pastor’s messages & yes, many “holiness” evangelist’s sermons, could be preached in non-holiness pulpits & not “ruffle a feather.” It’s not enough to say, “God is Holy,” not enough to say, ‘Heaven is Holy” our pulpits need to proclaim “YOU can & Must be holy – unless you are, you’ll miss heaven.” – 2/13/20

Hell has the torments of no-water, flame, memory. These have to be horrible, beyond our earth-side ability to comprehend. Is that all? No. The rich man (Luk 16) could SEE Abraham & Lazarus. He could see what he’d missed. Friend, please come to Christ & believe His Word. Hell will be worse – if that’s possible – because of viewing (maybe without being able to look-away) the wonders of Heaven. – 2/13/20

“But – sinners have so much fun.” Well, yes, Scriptures do speak of “pleasures of sin,” so a quick glance at sin might look like “fun.” The Book goes on to limit pleasures “for a season.” The most wealthy, more famous sinner dies. That could be called his “season.” However, they may have lung cancer, syphilis, cirrhosis of the liver etc. which shortens their “season.” Eternity in hell is a long time to pay for such a short, short season. The Christian life has no glitz, no hollywood “lights” – some see it as dull. Wait. You’re just seeing this “season.” We’ll someday walk on gold & that’s just the beginning. – 2/13/20

A LONGer Post. You have a Biblical church. Thank God. Bear in mind no church is static – it’s moving toward being a better House of Worship or its sliding away from where it was. As a dad, you need to listen. As a S.S. teacher or S.S. superintendent, you need to pay attention. As a member of the official board, you need to be aware. Without being carnal, without having a sharply critical attitude, ask yourself which direction is your church headed? Is the pastor preaching a more clear message or has he gotten fuzzy? Is the youth leader deepening or has he lightened up? The last evangelist – a man perhaps you didn’t know – did he preach about the holiness of God or not. Pray for your Meeting House but also be man enough to raise the right questions, at the right time. God bless your efforts. – 2/12/20

Sports – the use of the body to play physical games one on one or team against team is historically heathen. Neither OT Jews nor NT Christians were involved in physical exertion just for exertion (i.e. nothing was done for a man or men of lasting value). Heathen are having their Best world Now & are trying to squeeze in all the “fun” they can. The addiction to play is opposite the “…Work…the night cometh when no man can work”(Joh 9.4). – 1/29/20

God doesn’t need a perfect sound system. He doesn’t need praise choruses blazed on the front wall. God is not in need of a tinkling piano or drums appealing to body more than soul. Yes, un-awakened sinners may be impressed with such music, but hear it, they need to be impressed with a Presence they can’t understand but, though it makes them uneasy, they like. His presence is more likely to be at church if we prayed before arriving there. We need a Hungering & Thirsting for God. – 2/5/20

They may only partially represent their so-called name &/or only represent it for the last yrs/decades. A goal of state schooling is to make you a believer – in their paradigm. As an awakened sinner or as a thinking Christ-follower, we’re privileged to be doubters. Doubt everything which is not backed by the Word of God. 2/7/20

Though some animals live as individuals the majority live (air, earth, sea) more or less in societies. Men who want to control men try to organize them as animals. Evil social planners want mankind to be educated in mass, work in mass, & (at their “beck & call”) march of & kill in mass. Socialism has been used by satan – it is not God’s plan! 2/7/20

Do evangelicals still believe in Hell? Do holiness churches still believe in Damnation? Pastor, when’s the last time your entire sermon was about Hell? When did you last address horrors of the lost in one of your major points? “Well, I don’t want to scare people away.” Brother, its better that you scare one or two away than they not be scared of dying & dropping into Hell. (As a preacher, retired, I’m aware that such a message needs to be bathed in prayer AND that it takes work to prepare yourself & to deliver it. Maybe that’s one reason we hear little about it anymore.) – 2/4/20

Does your pastor need a day off? Yes, it’s a great idea for every pastor to have a day off. Do your best to honor his day, only calling him in case of real emergency. He needs time with this family & if his nest is empty, with this wife. And, yes, do not begrudge him a vacation (the longer he’s been with you, the longer his vacation). Again, honor that time away with no contact unless something awful happens. He’ll be a better man for his day off & his time off – if he uses them wisely. – 2/5/20

LET YOUTH KNOW. If you’re a pastor of young people or associated (whatever level) with a Christian school, please tell youth if an important “christian” man visits your city or tell them of his death, or burial, if near you. “Christian” is in quotes: he may not be your stripe but if he preaches Bible & lives clean (without approving of his doctrine) you might consider letting them know. I post this because just today (2/6/20) I found out Henry Halley [wrote Halley Bible Commentary] died while I was in college & was buried in KY, not that far where I lived. Wish I’d have known. 2/6/20

If you’re professing to be sanctified but are having carnal anger outbursts, are full of pride, are jealous, stop. Stop professing until you allow God to remove the “old” man(woman) out of your life. You’re hurting the cause of Holiness. There is a real life of purity. Seek God. Die out to yourself. Believe His promise. When He truly sanctifies you start professing it & walk carefully with Him all your days. – 2/4/20

Evangelical/holiness pulpits have probably never had more “educated” men. Educated where? “In our Bible colleges & center-to-right seminaries – We’re good.” I’m not sure about that. To have taken a class it not necessarily the same as grasping the subject. To hold an honorary degree sounds better than it is. To graduate should be to commence: commence to study (now not to get a grade but to imprint truth on the soul). Commence to pray. Praying yourself out of some ideals which are not Biblical, into others that are. Men, Please do not rely on your schooling but use it as a tool for God. 2/5/20

Do you recall entering church with silence? Going quietly to pew & kneeling, imploring God to come today – telling Him how much you need Him? If you didn’t kneel (old age, injury, not enough space) you bowed your head & just as sincerely asked Him to come. When you stopped praying, you did NOT talk to Mrs “X” nor turn around to gossip with Mr “Y.” You remembered you were in GOD’S House. Gardening can wait till after we hear from heaven. So-n-So’s baby can be discussed after dismissal. We’ve lost our reverence for God, partly because we’ve lost our reverence for His House. Amen? Ouch? 2/5/20

There is sin in our midst. It’s in the Ten Commandments. It’s in the NT. Name? Adultery. Few evangelical /holiness pastors preach to Mafia dons. But many congregations have men with two living wives & some of those men sit on official boards. We should preach against the sins of gangsters; they need to be redeemed. AND – we should preach against adultery. Please re-read Mar 10.9&11 & note the relation between “married” & “adultery.” Some preachers are failing to address the sins they need to. Amen? Ouch? – 2/2/20

You shouldn’t be so engrossed in messages, worse yet games, that you’re unaware of who’s moved up next to you, who may be taking a pic of you, who may be stealing your bag or getting ready to abduct you. Be aware of your surroundings. If you must use phones in public look up often & pause in conversation to assess what’s going on about you. “You’re too mistrustful Bryan.” After you’ve searched for your child an hour & have no leads where they are, you might not say that. – 2/2/20

Visiting? You know your parents don’t approve of women in miniskirts, pants, or shorts yet you (or your-at-home-daughter) arrived in such “get-up.” Why? Maybe you don’t agree with their view of lady modesty. Maybe you’re “modern religion” has (in your opinion) outgrown Biblical teachings. But can you not, for a visit, respect how you were raised & respect your parents? (Someday they’ll be gone & you may wish you’d done better.) Your dad & mom may never say this but – maybe I can say it for them. – 2/4/20
