2Ki 7.9 +

2Ki 7.9

“…They said one to another, ‘We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings

& we hold our peace…’”

Somewhere in the 50’s I’d have first sung, “I’ve got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy down in my heart – Where? Down in my heart – Where? Down in my heart. I’ve got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy down in my heart – where? Down in my heart to stay.” Come to think of it – I’ve not been where it’s been sung for yrs. Does your church sing it? Not to be judgmental – but – have we lost the *Joy* out of our services? Eh? “O God, ‘Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation’”(Psa 51.12).

“He [man in union with Jesus] does not struggle & kick against the pricks

when he feels God would have him forsake business & preach the gospel.”

– Samuel L Brengle

Jesus Christ saves sinners;

Sinners only does He save.

He can heal the broken hearted,

Raise the dead up from the grave,

The great Messiah of the skies

Restores sight to blinded eyes.

But He only touches them,

Who realize that they need Him.- eab, March 1972

“Peter the great…used to make shoes like a common cobbler that he might enter into sympathy with his people & help them realize that labour is not menial, but honourable & full of diginity.”

– Samuel L Brengle

Thank you, Mr Trump, for calling for a National Day of Prayer. My first remembrance of a presidential election was Eisenhower vs Stevenson. Since then several men have held that office & evangelical/holiness churches have barely noticed some of them. That changed with Trump – the religious right became his “cheerleaders.” Too many leaders, pastors (IMO) have said too much in his favor. (Part of it was reacting to how he’s been criticized & by whom.) He’s not done all I could wish, but I do want to thank him for the call for prayer 3/15/20. “God, Help America, Please.” 3/16/20

Joh 17.9

“I pray for them: I pray not for the world,

but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.”

Does the man who never preaches about hell even believe in it? Unpleasant subject? Definitely! The most horrible subject upon which a minister can speak. If it doesn’t exist – don’t preach it – Christians do not believe in fairy tales. If it does exist [& it does], if real people really go there [& they do], a pastor & an evangelist are only being fair to tell sinners about it. Please do not preach it, brothers, with any degree of lightness, & only after serious study & more serious prayer, on your part. – 3/16/20
