Rom 4.20 +

Rom 4.20

“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief;

but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;”

“…Carnal worry involves my integrity as a holy man;

it disconnects me from God by my doubtfulness & complaints.”

– H A Baldwin

I hope you are ever-so-often, reading a non-fiction book that’s totally new to you. In such a text you may run across a new word. What do you do with it? Blunder on, hoping to understand it from the context? Or do you have a dictionary within arms reach? Picking it up may allow you the luxury of learning its exact definition, how to pronounce it, maybe even when it first appeared in use. Don’t own a good dictionary? Put it on your list. – 3/27/20

“Joy can & should be cultivated, just as faith

or any other fruit of the Spirit is cultivated.”

– Samuel Brengle

WE WILL REJOICE

Come. Let us make a conscience choice

We can, therefore we WILL rejoice.

The Father gave us tongue and lip

For more than food or watery sip

Praise God today with a clear voice.

– eab, 4/8/17

When you’re looking through a window & “see” something move out yonder, change your focus & look *at* the window pane. It may have a spec on it or even a defect in the glass. (We once lived in a house built when Abraham Lincoln was 15; some glass was “wavy.”) Point? What we think we “see” in life may (or may not) be reality; perhaps we’re “seeing” it through our theology. Ask God to help you clean up (or replace) any/all faulty theology. – 4/6/20

“The wars of Israel were the only ‘holy wars’ in history

for they were the wars of God against the world of idols.”

– Dietrich Bonoeffer

Heb 11.6

“…without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God

must believe that he is & that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

“Gipsy Smith saw the difference between repentance & conversion

like the difference between awaking in the morning & getting up.

– Andrew W Blackwood

God’s variety in maples alone should convince us of His limitless abilities. He has millions of maples on thousands of hillsides yet, no two of them are exactly alike. If He can do this with mere trees try to imagine what he can do with His more gracious, precious saints. Let Him. – 4/8/20
