Psa 23.1-2+

Psa 23.1-2

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

LONGer Post. Holiness preachers, back when we were more likely to hear holiness messages (either negative; ridding your life of carnality or positive; encouraging the Fruit of the Spirit) would occasionally mention the word “eradicate.” A younger minister let a friend know that to emphasis “eradication” is now passé. Seems a Bible college instructor or a newish penman has said “once carnality has been ‘eradicated’ it can’t come back.” These would-be-theologs need to raise a garden. I’ve pulled many a weed from a raised-bed as God can pull the “root of bitterness.” The “prince of the power of the air” (Eph 2.2) comes along dropping other seeds. God’s eradication does not mean one can not backslide but it surely beats trying to suppress the old man. Preach eradication! – 2/12/20

“The Holy Ghost in me won’t fuss with the Holy Ghost in you.”

– R E Carroll

Dad, have you “created” your prayer closet? Mom, have you selected a corner where you can be alone with God? Some houses & an out building or two are easier to whittle out a private praying place. Dad, may I suggest: offer to share your prayer closet with a son. You could arrange a signal (some fabric/paper “flag” which allows a son to know you’re there or you to know, he’s there. (Same with you Mom.) Some houses are not the easiest to places to find private places to pray. Prayer is a Privilege & as Must. – 2/14/20

“The final word of judgment will be our final word to Jesus

& that final word will be either ‘Come’ or ‘Depart.’”

– Samuel  Chadwick

There’s a crowd gathering on another shore,

The group’s grower larger every day.

They are gathering in from all directions,

Yet all came there, BY God’s Narrow Way.

This crowd has skins of different shades,

Speak languages to each other quite unknown,

But they are connected by one Royal Blood,

Ah, Christ firmly owns them for His very own.

This throng landed where they planned to land.

They found their long-sought heavenly goal.

They weathered all life’s threatening storms,

Insisting (at all costs) on “saving” their soul.

Soon, Friend, you may be gathered with them,

Soon, I may join the celestial number,

Where the Son is the Light for all the day,

(And where we’ll never night for slumber.)

Let us then be Faithful with a capitol “F,”

To the Lord who rules that Group, that Shore,

And gather with enumerable saints young & old.

Gather to Christ. Gather to part never-more!

The “Wedding” date is yet to unknown – it’s solely in the Hands of the Father. Here a huge difference is seen between modern marriages & that of both NT times & this wonderful coming Wedding. Modern weddings are much in women’s hands: mother of bride, grandmother & bride. In the NT a king made a marriage for his son (Mat 22.2) in the Wedding of the Ages, God the Father decides even the date (Mat 24.36). 2/18/20

“To say ‘Oh I’m no saint’ is acceptable to human pride

but it is unconscious blasphemy against God.”

– Oswald Chambers

Rev 22.17a

“And the Spirit & the bride say, Come.

And let him that heareth say, Come…”

The Wedding of the Ages is a-preparing! The bride is getting ready. She’s willing, yea wants to lose a “pound” here or there; “pound” being synonymous with weight “…Lay aside every weight…” (Don’t want to make this too modern but allow an idea or 2.) Her “dress” is white signifying the purity of heart & life – made pure by the sacrifice of her heavenly Husband & she is adorned with pricey “jewels”- Meek & Quiet Spirit. – 2/18/20

The world by wisdom knew not God…is demonstrated by the writings of the most learned & intelligent heathens…Moses alone…gives a consistent & rational account of the creation.”

– Adam Clarke
