Job 27.8 +

Job 27.8

“For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained

when God taketh away his soul?”

“Preach doctrine, preach all the doctrine that you know & learn forevermore…but preach it always not that men may believe it but that men may be saved by believing it.”

– Phillips Brooks

As the church becomes more enthralled with secular (financial, educational, political) power we lose sight of Power of the Holy Spirit. He can do more in a village, in a short time than the combined efforts of all man’s puny agencies. One holy, praying, obeying circuit rider (now by auto) can do what politics can’t. But it’s easier to for unsanctified heart to win the vote of men (“men pleasers”) than it is to die out to all awards & false glories of earth. “God, Please raise up a batch of men who love you so much there’s no room in their hearts to love the world. Amen.” – 11/6/20

“After a man has been in the ministry 8 or 10 yrs his files

should contain the results of his studies in almost every book of the Bible.”

– Andrew W Blackwood

The Bible uses “heaven and earth” (these 3 words, in this exact order) over 30 times. It is interesting that the “H” of Heaven & the “E” of Earth spell HE. He is the owner & order-er of all that takes place in both vast areas. They are God’s – HE owns them. – 11/6/20

H. C. B.

Have you ever seen an angel? [1]

Well, one just tripped by.

Her hair the color of harvested straw.

Her eyes?  The color of the sky.

She’s the littlest child with a Bryan name,

She lives with me and my sweet dame.

And this morning as I saw her,

Cheeks rosy in health,

I thought of the angels God made in His wealth.

And I don’t know how many angels God has,

I suppose a billion or three,

But I’m very glad He gave one to us,

To share, this side ‘eternity. * “Angel” is here used tongue-in-cheek.

– eab,  Nov. ‘76

Wolves in sheep’s clothing do NOT say, “Te-hee, I’m a wolf trying to look (a little) like a sheep, trying to talk (a little) like a sheep, but I’m here to weaken the flock, if not in numbers, at least in effectiveness.” If you, readers, are a sheep there are two extremes: do not do either. One extreme is to suspicion everyone. The other extreme is to accept everyone. God’s people need discernment, more I fear than I see. You need discernment. If you realize you need it, ask it from God. – 11/7/20

“He [Jesus] bore the luscious fruit of perfect love. There was no hatred with His love

no venom, no spite, no selfishness. He loved His enemies & prayed for His murderers.”

– Samuel L Brengle

2Pe 3.17

“Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also,

being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.”

Did you know what was best for you when you were 2 or 4 or 10? Of course not. That’s the reason God provided the family of Dad & Mom. They, as older more experienced folks, can advice, direct, guard us from harm. Do you know what’s BEST for you at 20 or 40 or 100? Again the word is negative. That’s the reason we have a Heavenly Father. He can cause us to travel a path with few or fewer mistakes & no sins. He wants (as any great Parent does) what’s best for you. – 11/7/20

“God wants to build us up in holy character but holy character is for eternity

& is many-sided & therefore must be subjected to manifold testings.”

Samuel L Brengle
