TRIPS #1- of 7.  My dad, Clyde D Bryan, gave me a shoat when I was about 12. Later he sold the liter he gave me the $35. it brought. From mowing lawns (I’d guess-it’s been a long time) I was able to add $8. He took me to the Sears (“& Roebuck” back then) in Lancaster & we came home with a new “three-speed English” bicycle for me. Many times I rode it to down the lane to the road. Mile upon mile rolled under those narrow tires. And I came home. NOTE that. My trips were round trips. – 9/26/22

TRIPS #2- of 7. While a high school dorm student at God’s Bible School I made my first trip (as I recall) by train. [Do not confuse train here with the little “train” ride at a zoo.] At Cincinnati’s Union Terminal I boarded a huge, old train which took me to Columbus, OH. After a visit with my parents I returned back to the dorm. I came home. NOTE that. My trip was a round trip. – 9/26/22

TRIPS #3- of 7. In 1961 we (we became “we”) soon afterward, bought our first car. It was a blue, 1953 Ford, two-door sedan. When the right day arrived we headed that machine (At some point that Ford became “Stella Mae” after my very likeable m-n-l.) to Tennessee. After being legally “hitched” we (Dad loaned us his more dependable German-style VW) took our 2-day “honey-moon” & then on the Lord’s Day afternoon headed the Ford back to greater Cincy. We came home. NOTE that. My trip was a round trip. – 9/26/22

TRIPS #4- of 7. I was invited to visit the EBM Campmeeting. For the first time (at age 27) I climbed into the left, rear seat of Bud Calhoun’s 4-place high-wing plane & was soon airborne. We flew north from Hobe & landed on the grass strip in Summerfield (or a spot very near). The next day, if memory serves correctly, we (Jacob Miller & his son, David, were also aboard) flew back south. Short but very memorable journey. I came home. NOTE that. My trip was a round trip. – 9/26/22

PRAYING TOGETHER.  Praying in a group (pre-service on a Lord’s Day AM or PM) or at an especially called prayer meeting can be rewarding. When you weaken, a brother on the other side of the church (or barn) may be going strong & encourage you to come back “into the battle” after you catch your breathe. Or you may be being lead to louder or longer praying & thus help another who is lagging a tad. Join in such cooperate seasons of prayer as opportunity arises. – 9/22/22

When “we” bring in a speaker who is left-of-center & still moving left; When we quote (in person or on paper) an individual who lives a sub-Biblical life-style; When a main “supporter” is a Used-To-Be-Holiness soul/church but now “Holiness unto the Lord” is seldom heard – – – “we’d” better do some checking. “We” – in a quest to be Bigger, in a desire be appear more Tolerant, in following the wrong “Jesus” have lost the True Jesus. He, the True Christ, was more radical than most want to admit. – 9/22/22

No. The date upon which you were born does NOT decide your destiny. You & God do that. You with God, can go to be with Him in Joyful-ness forever. If you chose to leave God out of your life – God will let you but when you think you want Him back, it may be too late. His Spirit may not respond to your despairing cries. Christ died to make you a New Creature. Flee the devil & all his horrible witches & the like. They may have a limited power but their time on earth is very limited !!! – 9/22/22

I do not mind seeing a man with a degree of self-confidence (as long as I don’t see “cockiness” L). But oh, to see men – younger & older – who are walking so close to God that they have confidence, yea, UTTMOST confidence in the Lord & in the Word of the Lord. God can use human confidence (parents should encourage this to some extent). It’s sad to see a man devoid of self-confidence. The great LACK of modernity are souls not trusting God: with their lives, their marriages & yes, their deaths. – 9/24/22

OT vs NT #2. The fact of two Testaments has to do with more than centuries. The temple veil was dramatically rent from the top to the bottom marking (in addition to our Lord’s death) the change from an old order to the new. We passed from a rite-filled, ritual-bound religion to the freedom of salvation brought by Christ & Him alone. Anyone doubting the new, must re-read the King’s List: “But I say unto you…” Christ was always serious. Do not dare to ignore His inaugural Listing (Mat 5.21-48). – 9/22/22

People stay away from a church with “fire” – they don’t want light. Souls don’t go to hear a close preacher – they don’t want light. Damnation appears to be a place *without light – Matthew (ch. 8, 22, 25) speaks of “outer darkness.” They didn’t want light & may go all eternity without light. People didn’t want to drink of Christ’s water – in hell they’ll want one DROP of water (Luk 16.24). They don’t want to remember Bible truth, here – hell may have them remembering all the Bible they *ever heard. – 9/22/22

Avoid the use of magic or magical (even the words!) – Christians don’t need such. We have the power of God’s miracles. Never think referring to a witch or a wizard as a light thing. They belong to a totally different master. Their pitiful master (satan) will soon be eternally incarcerated by our Wonderful Master, Jesus Christ. Have nothing to do with satan’s “supernatural” (may also be called “paranormal”) or his “unexplained” or anything dubbed “enchanting.” Do NOT be curious about satan’s tricks. – 9/22/22

Joh 14.6

“Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth & the life:

no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.’”

Be honest in THY soul. Do you want Truth or, or Do you want fiction? If you want Truth today you are likely to have Truth tomorrow (when BTW, it will be the most welcome “commodity” you can possibly imagine). If you desire Fiction today you’ll (unless, by God’s grace you change) have Fiction tomorrow – – – when you’ll wish you’d never seen or heard of it. Today you can still line up with Truth. I urge you, make that URGE you, to do whatever it takes to get on the good side of Truth. – 9/23/22

HOME SCHOOL – ASIA #4. The varied peoples of Asia are the most important part of this land. Asia has Buddhists, Catholics, Christians, Communists, Confucianists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Shintoists, Sikhs, Taoists, Zoroastrians. Home school children can learn the names & perhaps 1-2 things about the major religions of Asia (no more than you’re comfortable about them knowing, after earnest prayer). Geography is one of the stepping-stones to a call to world evangelism & to world praying. – 9/22/22

It is said that Jonathan Edwards, the great Congregational preacher of New England, read his powerful sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” And, it’s thought his eyesight was so weak & that he held his sermon so close to his face, his people could not see “him.” Ah, but they heard HIM – God, that is! And, they felt (thanks be to God) the power, the power of prayer (his & others) behind that sermon.

If – after much prayer (only the Lord knows how long that may be) God sends a Holy Ghost Revival (no, not “tongues” but the Only Spirit of Christian Pentecost) & draws people into His house then, & allow me to say Only Then, should a church be seen as the “center of the community.” Old holiness churches (as I understand) were centers. People were attracted by the Presence of God. They were attracted by the sound of holy men & women at prayer – already holding onto Christ but seeking More of Him. – 9/22/22

The wicked world knows there IS a Hell. But – they don’t see the awfulness of it. CHURCH – this is our fault – to some extent. Recently I saw a youtube where personalities (left unnamed – tho two names I knew) were saying they would go (or words to that effect) to Hell. If you preach the Gospel, ask God to help you make Hell more real. If you do not preach, please pray that the Lord will lead your pastor to soon preach on Hell. The world needs to be afraid to go there. Hell is F.O.R.E.V.E.R ! ! !  – 9/22/22

HOME SCHOOL – ASIA #3. Asia not only has the record population (4.5+ billion) & is the largest in square miles, 11,979,676 (in round figures nearly 12 million) but it has the highest spot on earth. Mount Everest rises to 29,035 feet. On this same continent (many miles away) rests the lowest water surface on earth, the Dead Sea, at 1,412 feet below sea level. Somewhat as an aside Asia also has the deepest man-made drill spot, the Kola Bore Hole (Russia) at 40,230 feet.

OT vs NT #1.  I read the OT (Old Testament). I believe in the OT. I preach from the OT. I memorize & quote from the OT & I’d encourage you to do all the above. There are many great stories in the OT. Now. Hear. This. I DO NOT LIVE IN THE OT – nor, dear friend, do you. The majority of Christians see a little of this but too few are willing to think about it or articulate it. Expand your reading of the New Testament looking for, “nailing down” facts; differences. Be serious: there ARE two Testaments. – 9/21/22

How well do you “know” yourself?  [How honest can you be with “you”?]  What one(1) habit do you need to break – to be a stronger Christian? A better Dad? A more loving Mom? Or what action have you been postponing knowing you need to do ‘X’ but have lacked nerve, lacked manhood, lacked the womanhood to do it? If you’re a “date-setter” – set the date & dive in. If you don’t operate that way, start NOW. *Today* can become a new “holiday” in your life. Do what you know you need to do. – 9/21/22

WOMAN PREACHER. #4 “Bryan, God has called my granddaughter (niece? grandniece?) to preach she thinks – – – what do I do?” I don’t envy your position. Be kind. Be honest. If she talks to you about this, pray for wisdom & be ready to show her Bible on this subject. (I wouldn’t encourage you to approach this subject first, unless Christ distinctly leads you to.) She may go ahead (not accepting your warning). I’d advise you to not go hear her preach, no, not one time. Leave her in God’s hands. – 9/16/22

HEAVEN #2. If someday, some month, some yr. soon, you & I (by God’s glorious grace) enter the Gate of Heaven, we’ll be there by Holy Invitation. The Father’s House (Joh 14.2) is the ultimate goal of every saint. As we struggle through the gloomy moors & muddy low-lands of this dark world, we correctly aspire to reach that High & Holy House (heaven) of God. It will be a Huge relief to be safely in our Father’s eternal abode. It’ll be absolutely wonderful to be the “Guest of God.” Praise the Lord. – 9/17/22

HOME SCHOOL – ASIA #2. It has 51 countries counting the various island-countries which are Asiatic. It’d be good for home schoolers to know the westernmost [1] & easternmost (not counting Russia) [2] countries. They should know the northernmost [3] & southernmost [4] lands. The center of Asia is said to be in China. A good way to acquaint students with Asian geography is via a blank map or a puzzle. How quickly can your “whiz kid” place on the country names into their correct spaces? – 9/19/22

The fulfilling married life BEGINS on a date (salvation is similar to being Engaged, sanctification similar to the Wedding) but continues for yrs. You very probably already have a reputation in your circles. Permit me to encourage you to be better than people think you are. Be more like Jesus than your boss sees. Be a better Christian than your pastor imagines. Be a better man than even your wife thinks. Too many men, even preachers, “Sell for more than they are worth.” Make it your goal to be better on the inside &, if anything, “Sell for less than you’re worth.” God, the Father, knows true value & a Reward Day is coming. – 9/16/22

WOMAN PREACHER. #3 The woman someone included in their post was outfitted in pants. Imagine that. A woman preaching (a man’s job) in britches (man’s garment) & she even had short hair (mannish haircut). In the post to which I refer that woman had a top above her trousers which was partly shear so skin showed part of her back & arms. Please rouse out of your sleepiness. You should hear no woman preacher. Period. Let us be Biblical, even if others aren’t. – 9/16/22

HOME SCHOOL – ASIA #1.  So many westerns know so little about Asia – myself included. It is the largest continent, said to be 5,515 miles west to east & 5,465 miles north to south. Sounds nearly cubish but everyone who know anything of Asia knows it has (as all God-made earth-forms) intriguingly intricate shore lines. This largest land mass, appropriately enough, has the largest population – est. 4,728,681,729 souls. Teach your child more about Asia. Make it a bigger part if his geography. – 9/19/22

As a church loses spiritual life it tends to be interested in the formal. Services slope toward being predictable. The spontaneous testimony becomes rare. The sob (even a quiet sob) is almost never heard during prayer. The old saint standing weeping, without speaking an audible word, happens less. Men who like formal religion want to *know* what comes next – yes, & even control it. “O God, deliver us from COLD formality. Restore to our little congregations a measure of THY sweet presence.” – 9/19/22

WOMAN PREACHER. #2 “Well, she has some good things to say.” You might read a book or hear a talk, by a sinner & find something “good” depending on your definition of “good.” Too many are listening to men (in person, on media) who aren’t Born Again. Please don’t be fooled by a “catchy phrase” or some “cute saying.” If even a man isn’t living as the Bible teaches, stop hearing his sermons. – 9/16/22

HEAVEN #1. With all due respect to a man you saw as “sainted,” with due appreciation to a woman you saw as “godly,” please stop “going to heaven to see them” (related to them or not). It seems to me we’ve humanized heaven TOO much. We’ve failed to remember Heaven is the HOME of GOD. If your (or my) highly loved relative/friend has been admitted to heaven (thank the Lord) they’re there as guests of The Father. AND (IMO) joyful to the there as mere guests, the glory on centered on God!  – 9/17/22

WOMAN PREACHER. #1 You heard a woman preacher? If Christ wanted women to proclaim Him he had a perfect opportunity – He could’ve named a couple of women as disciples. He. Did. Not. “But, wait a minute, Philip had 4 daughters who prophesied.” 1.) To whom did they prophesy? May’ve been to women – therefore t’was Biblical, 2.) As I understand word, could mean they wrote songs – again, not unbiblical. 3.) The NT doesn’t contradict Itself. Women aren’t to preach (1Ti 2.12 +). – 9/16/22

When the Holy Ghost is welcome behind the pulpit, when the song leader (pastor in some churches, other, in others) has found the mind of God for the hymns of worship, when God’s child is called upon to pray & prays (as only God’s servant’s can) in the Spirit, God gives the services holy variety which no rite, which no ritualistic calendar can possibly provide. satan is just a creature. His ideas therefore are limited. God is CREATOR. He can (will, if heartily invited) give a church wonderful worship hours. – 9/16/22

HOME SCH. – HISTORY. If possible use older US history books. If you are using some modern booklets, you, Dad/Mom, should pre-read them before “Jr.” does. This is possibly the hardest course to be TRUE to facts. You can SPECIALIZE (US History) on the presidents. Have child learn them in order, learn who his wife/children were, learn where he was born & also where he grow up. What was his dad’s line of work? What did HE do before entering politics? What was his favorite food? His dog’s name? – 9/13/22

GOD

God formed hills with curving inclines,

He likes ovals, egg-shapes and “nearly rounds.”

God made slight bends and flowing lines,

He created “almost flats” and sloping grounds.

Man tries, by human contrast,

To make a perfectly straight string.

Right angles stick to him (too fast)

A wobble is a hated, ugly thing.

A straight line is man’s necessity,

Making it plume and level too.

The Creator in His infinite variety,

Finds no new curve “hard” to do.

God in surest sovereignty and might,

Makes His world full of slight bends;

But He made His prime creature’s sight,

To see perfection in parallel ends.

HOME SCH. “But I want my son to be a doctor.” Be careful that YOU don’t have wrong ambitions for him (or you with a proud heart, want to say “my son’s a Dr.” There’s no higher calling than for him to preach “Christ & Him crucified – thus to represent on earth, the King of Heaven.) If your son moves ahead [in God’s will] to be Dr. he can build the math & science he then needs on the firm foundation you give him NOW in Reading & in Writing & Grammar: the very building blocks of higher learning. – 9/13/22

If God allowed you a glimpse (that’s all you’d want!) back at this putrid world from heaven [note ‘IF’ – I seriously doubt He will], you’d see what the Lord’s saints see now – a very filthy, very temporary scene & realize that sick earth is ‘approaching’ the sadness of hell. By contrast, souls in hell have a memory of the world (rich man in hell remembered he had brothers, Luk 16.28) & though not seeing it perfect (it’s FAR from it) they see earth WAS a place of opportunity. That opportunity is forever PAST. – 9/15/22

NEED A MOUSE CATCHER? Found this list of cats alleged to be good mousers (order may or may not matter; I don’t know). Siamese,* Maine Coon, Siberian, American Shorthair,* Manx,* Japanese Bobtail,* Chartreoux, Persian, Turkish Angora, Bengal,*  [*Appear (pic) to be shorter haired.] You might call Dog Pound for a free cat. If they have a cat that is a mix (of one of these) she/he might be worth considering. I’m not a cat guy but research if you should “reward” cat after 1^st 2^nd catch. Wish you the best. – 9/15/22
