Job 19.25 +

Job 19.25

“For I know that my redeemer liveth

& that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth”

“If you are a Christian, you are not a citizen of this world trying to get to heaven;

you are a citizen of heaven making your way through this world.”

– Vance Havner

If you’re a “story teller” I strongly encourage you to tell true stories: snatches of events that actually happened, parts of someone’s life, glimpses into real happenings – from which to learn lessons or catastrophic, once-in-a-lifetime events from which to benefit for time AND eternity. Tell the stories of Jesus, other NT or OT characters. If you are using your own words (necessary unless you speak from memory) please preface your story by stating these are your words. – Aug 2022

“If they had a social gospel in the days of the prodigal son, somebody

would have given him a bed & a sandwich & he never would have gone home.”

SAME FAME

Men have had their moments,

Glittering in the sun,

Because they ruled, were rich,

Or had a little run.

Then their glist’ning clouded,

Dulled into dark night,

Their short day was over,

Out of mind, out of sight.

But God – awesome contrast –

Has “ever after” fame.

He is well known – will be,

God is ever the same.

Glorify Him (not man),

Honor His brilliant name.

WOMAN PREACHER. #2 “Well, she has some good things to say.” You might read a book or hear a talk, by a sinner & find something “good” depending on your definition of “good.” Too many are listening to men (in person, on media) who aren’t Born Again. Please don’t be fooled by a “catchy phrase” or some “cute saying.” If even a man isn’t living as the Bible teaches, stop hearing his sermons. – 9/16/22

“People used to blush when they were ashamed. Now they are ashamed if they blush. Modesty has disappeared & a brazen generation with no fear of God before its eyes mocks at sin. We are so fond of being called tolerant & broadminded that we wink at sin when we ought to weep.”

– Vance Havner

You can’t stop PRAYER. You can stop praying, but you can’t stop PRAYER.

Not the thickest wall (to keep you in, or keep others out) can stop PRAYER. Keep on praying.

Not the highest fence of man or mountain precipice of nature can stop PRAYER. Keep praying.

Not the widest man-made moat nor the widest stretch of seascape can stop PRAYER. Pray on. – 9/17/22

Jas 5.16

“Confess your faults one to another & pray one for another…

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

HEAVEN #1. With all due respect to a man you saw as “sainted,” with due appreciation to a woman you saw as “godly,” please stop “going to heaven to see them” (related to them or not). It seems to me we’ve humanized heaven TOO much. We’ve failed to remember Heaven is the HOME of GOD. If your (or my) highly loved relative/friend has been admitted to heaven (thank the Lord) they’re there as guests of The Father. AND (IMO) joyful to the there as mere guests, the glory on centered on God!  – 9/17/22

“The tragedy of today is that the situation is desperate

but the saints are not.”

– Vance Havner
