LADIES #4  Dear wife, sweet mother, You are needed at home. (Your husband needs to taper debt so “your income” is not needed.) We’ve lost too many daughters (in part) because mothers worked. This cycles up. A girl whose mom worked outside the home thinks its OK for her to also. A lad whose mom worked away from home sees it as natural & may pressure his new wife too. No. No. Teach daughters to read, cook, study the Bible, sew, pray, tend a garden. Be “keepers at home”(Tit 2.5). – 12/20/22

READING vs MOVIE #3.  The sentence (# 1 above) is about as bland as a 20 word sentence can be. I only raised 3 variables: car, bridge, door – all nouns. The variables could be expanded. Sentence could have included: lovers, or murder, or a holiday, or crime. Movies are controlling too many people & how they think (or do NOT think – just knee-jerk re-act). People are being fed warped stories. Societies are believing too much of what a screen “told” them; some of which is a lie. Minds are being controlled. – 12/26/22

LOOK UP #2. Man has made many inventions. We, as mere mortals, are tempted to see man as smart. Some of us are likely to like new “stuff” – a little too prone to admire a new electronic “gizmo,” some fresh “thing-a-m-jig.” The Bible uses the word “inventions” 5 times; 4 of those have negative contexts. Men (& too often satan, working with men) want you to get hooked on “toys.” At best unnecessary – at worst sinful gadgets. Stop looking down at screens so much. Look up! Enjoy the huge sky overhead. Today. – 12/29/22

DEBT. #1. Get out of debt. “That’s not possible.” I’m not a financial adviser nor do I claim to be a prophet but I STRONGLY urge you to *do all you can* to reduce/eliminate your debt. “If I sell my expensive (car, truck, house) I’ll take a loss.” Better (IMO) to take a 25%, 50% loss *now as to lose 100% *later. Pay off the credit cards.  Stop putting restaurant meals & weekly groceries on cards. “The rich ruleth over the poor & the borrower is servant to the lender”(Pro 22.7) IS. STILL. TRUE.! – 12/31/22

READING vs MOVIE #2. If the same six people were to see the scene (above) on film: old reel-to-reel, TV, digitalized, the movie shows the car shape, paint tone, approximate age, shows the bridge color & exact attachment of the door to the barn. Your “imagination” is not needed. You six now think more alike (not perfectly but much more) alike than had you read the sentence. The movie “took over” your brain to that extent. It’s sad when a man who attends an evangelical or holiness church becomes addicted to ball games – a leading god of sooo many secular men & women. This sadness could be said to deepen, when the guy who listens to, or watches the “ball-god,” not only attends church but sits on a board, teaches a Sun. Sch. class, superintends the dept., or leads music. Worse? Sadly, yes. Its worse when a minister (supposedly of “the gospel”) is devoted to the “ball-god.” You can NOT serve both God & the “ball-God”! – 12/27/22

NEEDY YOUTH #2. What is the most masculine thing about the lad? Try to strengthen this. Ask God for wisdom as to what type of work to teach him. I speak of literal hands-on, muscle-using work but also one that produces a product of value. He could work with wood, metal, pottery, electric, plumbing. If you have room (maybe someone will loan you space) to introduce him raising chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys. Seek until you find THE KEY to moving him toward being *fully masculine. Be patient. – 12/28/22

Not at all!  [Please pardon the use of “show,” it’s cheap – far too cheap for that to which I refer.] The greatest spectacle is overhead – look up. God made a sky dome far above us. It extends from horizon to horizon. It was there yesterday. It will be there tomorrow (you nor I may not be here to see God’s great dome but it’ll be there.). This wonderful sky is here NOW. Look up. Why look down when you can look up? And Give God the Glory! – 12/29/22

READING vs MOVIE #1. You read a sentence: “An old car wound its way through the curves near the covering bridge & stopped by the large barn door.” Six readers reading this “see” six different scenes. “Old car” to one is not the same as “old car” to the next reader. The covered bridge to one is painted red – another reader sees the bridge “silver” (white or black). The barn door for one is hinged – for another reader it rides a track. Books allow YOU to see the scene *you* like. Books are wonderful. – 12/26/22 

GOD COULD

God could have made the world and “walked”

NEEDY YOUTH #1. You “inherit” a lad (step-son, grandson, nephew) who lacks masculinity. What do you do? Pray. – I’m deathly serious. If you aren’t as close to God as you should be, get alone with Him & get right – You’re going to need His help. After praying become very observant; Learn to listen. This chap may give you hints in words (said or left unsaid) as to why he’s not as male as you wish. You may feel trapped with this new “responsibility” (I think I understand). Look to Jesus, daily! – 12/22/22

You’re not a reader – have never read a book through. Or, you’re a ferocious reader – of fiction or non-fiction: borrowed or owned, but have not read the Bible through. LADIES #2 If Jesus had wanted female Disciples He could have very easily commissioned two (or more). Paul draws a clear line. “Bryan, have you not heard a woman preacher?” As a 13-14 yr old I saw that a woman up front was a problem, though both my parents accepted women preachers. If, (& kindly, I mean IF) Miss “x” or Mrs “y” felt “called of God” to preach, I leave that between them & God. Let me stand with the example of Jesus & exposition of Paul. – Dec. 2022

I’m moving away from “universe.” [Again, I’m not saying it’s a sin to say it, but a habit I’m seeking to break.] “Universe” according to one source has roots in Latin & a guy named Cicero; much newer than Genesis which so Classily states, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” “Heaven and earth” occur (“bumper-to-bumper”) in 31 Bible verses & in an additional 125 verses, un-connected. I like the Bible much better than Latin OR Cicero. – 12/23/22

Young Lady #2 – a new young man is being friendly & you like it. Don’t go too fast. Is he the “life of the party”? Is he always cracking jokes? This desire to be the center of attention could “be a cover.” Inside, he maybe a needy young man. This humor (or attempt at it) may include other young ladies. And, sadly the desire to impress may not end at the wedding. Does he have a prayer life? Have you heard him talk to Jesus when he didn’t know you were hearing? Date that chap who prays. Home Sch. HANDICAP DAY #2. Possibly start with “broken” arm or leg. Guys can wear a knit shirt (girls a knit top) & over this you can tape light sticks (or plastic pipe) so that their elbow will not bend. Or if the leg, a PJ bottom can be worn & sticks or pipe taped so they can’t bend one knee. A catch can be placed over one eye. Or one/both ears can be covered so they are “hard-hearing.” This may see fun first hour or two but later will seem restrictive. (Be sensitive to a little child & allow shorter times.) – 12/21/22

BUILD A BOAT #4 We make too little of the first Boat, that full YEAR on the water, the miracle of preservation of human life & of all those land/air animals. Praise God for Noah & his Ark. Be a Noah. LADIES #1 A godly lady is limited but also unlimited. The lady living to please the New Testament is “limited” in that she isn’t to teach or preach to men (1Ti 2.12). (One thing tongues speaking groups have gotten SO wrong – but our careful Baptist friends do SO right.) The lady is Unlimited in prayer! She can pray for her husband & family, & should. She can intercede for her pastor & place of worship, & should. She can weep & pray for evangelists at home & abroad, & should. That is POWERFUL. – 12/20/22

Young Lady #1 – a certain guy is showing an interest in you. Exciting? Yes, it can be. But be cautious. Does he drive a fancy car or jacked-up pickup? Some (if not most) who tool around in such crave attention. He may never outgrow this (carnal ?) desire to be seen or heard as he drives by. This could get old. On another side – have you heard him testify to being clearly saved? Sanctified? You may not “see” it yet, but listen – you want a husband who loves you but who actually loves God more! – 12/20/22

Home Sch. HANDICAP DAY #1. Have one in spring & fall.” Allow youth to choose their type of handicap in spring. You keep record so that the one they select next fall is different. Have them “suffer” pretend handicap so they’ll have more sympathy with the next person they see who’s truly restricted in mobility or another field. Have student write a report (shorter for younger; longer, more detailed for older students). Handicap should be at least the length of sch. day, if not 24 hrs. – 12/21/22

Home school #5. (Youth garden con’t.) Selecting what plants to plant give perfect days to look at values of eating beans, garbanzo (chickpeas) lintels, peas. You can have youth experiment planting 3-4 varieties of beans (black, great northern, limas, pinto) all the same day. Keep a record of the day planted, the day sprouted, day bloomed, day of first picking & pounds of beans per variety. Same of course, can be done with tomatoes & other veggies they choose. This is “science class at its best.” – 12/8/22

BUILD A BOAT #3 Obviously, boats need to keep out water. A strong family keeps some habits out of the home (don’t, for example, allow dice in). Some homes are in horrible shape because they allow in waves of “music” (some so-called “christian”), waves of sports, waves of materialism; their boat sunk. Noah was surrounded by water (Gen 7.18-20). We’re surrounded by forces – which, if allowed would kill us – keep out the waves. Those boat walls & roof kept them safe. Jesus can us also. – 12/15/22

Which the King of kings does not “have in check”

Long past, now, forever. Yes – From. Hence. Forth.

He’s King of every continent man knows,

And every splash between, where a ship goes.

Friend, have you crowned Christ King, of your small life?

Give Him your problems. Give Him all your joys.

Give up the world’s “drama.” Give up its “toys.”

Holy women know how to be & ARE modest. (If you see more of the body of Miss “x” or Mrs “y” than you should, its a mistake or she is not holy.) The woman who’s made up her mind to be wicked also knows what is modest & has chosen to be contrary. Sadly, there are women who are not holy (& yet do not see themselves as evil) who seem to NOT know when a neck it too low, a hem to high, or outfit too tight. May God give us more HOLY ladies. Such could bless church & the Kingdom of God. – Dec 2022

BUILD A BOAT #2 The Bible doesn’t say that Noah had to buy timbers – he probably did not but, with little doubt, he & sons (plus unknown, unnamed, unsaved labors) spent much labor cutting down, sizing, fitting wooden beams. Labor. Too many parents have tried to fix a family problem with money. Some situations are only fixed with a labor of love; time spent together. Learn to be friendly with your children. Be able to spent time peaceable. Prayer can do more than argument can. – 12/15/22

God made the first individual some 6000 yrs ago. (Evolution is a lie.) God is the Greatest POSSIBLE Individual. He made Adam in His image, i.e. an individual. Never yield to “society” your Person. Even if (I hope you are never so!) imprisoned, don’t give up your individuality. “They may kill me.” I think (I don’t wish to speak brashly.) I understand that. If you’re a saint, death’s door opens up (on the other side) to Golden Streets. So – – – stay true to yourself AND to the Christ who gave you your Personhood. – 12/17/22

One of the greatest “skills” you can have is Voice Recognition – be able to recognize the voice of the devil or Voice of God. God will not say, “This is satan talking to you.” But the devil may say, “This is God talking.” He lies. Oh Friend, learn the difference between these two. One of the best ways to know IS God’s voice is that It fits with the Bible. satan can quote Scripture (did, Matthew 4.6) – don’t be fooled by words out of contest. God’s Voice agrees with the general sense of Scripture. – 12/18/22
