Sequence: A date (place any month, day, year here you like) was not special.

Then Date suddenly became *unbelievably special – XYZ was born.

That Date remained special to him/her as long as he/she lived.

That Date retained its significance as long as a daughter or son of his, of her, lived.

Then Date slipped (almost) away for grandchildren, except as they may visit a family reunion.

SOON date (month, day, year you like) is no longer special – it’s RE-swallowed up in time. – 3/27/23

HOME. [B.] Have strong locks (double locks?) on doors & all windows locked. If old windows with no (or poor) locks, drill a small hole in the wood where upper sash overlaps lower sash & put 8 penny nail in hole on both sides. Have curtain or blinds pulled at night (or when gone, or on side near a street) so no one can see what’s valuable; they may want to steal “out of sight/out of mind.” If you have shrub under windows make it very prickly so robbers will NOT want to hide in it. Someone presents a “new concept” (in person, social media, etc) & you find yourself “somewhat automatically” rejecting it. This is a good time to stop & ask yourself why. Why did I almost immediately throw up a defense? Did I base my opposition of it on the Bible? Do I have a true Biblical view or am I seeing God’s Book through glasses darkly shaded by “doctrinal” issues? Am I that closed to Light from Scripture? Or, did I reject said idea because of Who presented it? Eh? – 3/30/23

NOT RITE. As evangelicalism cools, as “holiness” churches move toward lukewarm-ness, there’s a tendency to use rituals & rites. (Spirituality is replaced by formality.) I hope this post interest’s you. Neither “ritual” nor “rituals” are in the Bible. The word “rite” is missing & “rites” is found once – back in the OT (Num 9.3). “Ceremony” is missing. “Ceremonies” is likewise found once – in that same Numbers spot. Our era (NT) has none of these. Hark!!! We aren’t OT followers; we’re NT Christians! – 3/30/23

HOME. [A.] Your house should look “plain jane” outside – may save on taxes, if society doesn’t fail; may save a break-in, if society does fail. But the “goodies” you do have, put them inside where you & “yours” can enjoy them – not outside for “bragging rights.” Siding, doors & roof can be strong & durable without looking expensive. MATURING. Salvation is great & essential. Sanctification is wonderful & oh, so necessary (“…holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” Heb 12.14). God’s Perfection allows growth beyond these. You may ask, “If we’re filled at sanctification how can there be growth?” Mankind is not stagnant – we shrink or grow. As we move on with the Lord our vessels can hold MORE “love, joy, peace.” We can mature, then Mature more, & rising to heaven; who knows how much growth will be there.  – 3/22/23

You’re “saved” when you settle it to walk with Christ *alone. Marriage makes this “settle on one” final. Sanctification is similar to marriage. And allows an intimacy mere engagement didn’t allow. As all newly weds should find there are pleasures beyond the honeymoon. Adjustments yes but solid pleasures are found in a maturing marriage. – 3/22/23

Yrs ago we vacationed in some Northeast states & Nova Scotia, New Brunswick & PEI. FIRST WORK. There’s a Work of Grace called Salvation. Thank God. This is also called the New Birth or being “Born Again.” It is the introductory step into Christianity provided by Christ, its Wonderful Founder. Many religions allow (even encourage) a degree of reformation but only the Blood of Jesus Christ makes it possible to become a New Creature. One is Born into the Family of God – it’s the only way IN. Do you, Friend live above sin? (Saints don’t sin, 1Jo 3.6.) Have you been Born Again? – 3/22/23

SECOND WORK. As one walks in his light after he’s been Born Again, he’ll see that there IS another Work of Grace, labeled Sanctification. Holiness (another name for this experience) is entered by dying out to self – negatives as carnal anger, jealousy, pride, etc. – & allowing the Holy Ghost to remove them. With these (& other filth removed) the Spirit can now fill him with Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance. Have ye received the Holy Ghost? – 3/22/23

Are you disciplined? Yes, I understand from time to time you allow yourself to step aside from a diet, a routine of discipline (as long as such “recess” doesn’t involve sin). I hope you have a measure of discipline. Can one have too much discipline? The answer is Yes. Doing things on time, every time can become a kind of “god.” You can PRIDE yourself in all your Do’s & Don’ts. Use discipline to be a better Christian but never allow yourself to worship “YOU” because you’re sooo disciplined. – 3/21/23

Suicide is SIN. If murder is sin (Who in their right mind says it is not?) it follows that Self-murder is sin. Happily the murderer can (if he will) repent & go to heaven. (Sadly the one he killed can’t – why murder is SOOooo wicked.) When one kills himself he is BOTH the murderer & the one murdered. Unlike the normal killer (who lives & therefore can repent) the suicide does not live – therefore he can’t repent. Do not become “soft” on suicide – it is sin!!!. satan lies about suicide. Dear female Friend.  Do I see that your hair has gotten shorter? Are you ill? Is your body not doing its normal duty of Growing Hair? Have you talked to a chiropractor about this abnormal condition? Earth is bigger than the pseudo-scientist boys want you to believe. (Too often they *act like they know.) Nor are the heavens are not as big as they say (they imagine a limitless “universe,” word not used until 1580s). Such diverse people as David, Israel’s most famous king, Isaiah & Daniel, two of the best OT prophets, & the Lord, Himself spoke of heaven having an “end.” It is very easy for me to take Scripture over the tired little theories of so-called “scientists” with heathen or cult-like connections. – 3/20/23

It’s the “holiness” school (pre-college, collegiate, post-college) that does NOT stress sanctification,   

It’s the “holiness” missionary organization which places NO emphasis on the holy i.e. the sanctified life,

It’s the “holiness” church in which pastor (NOR visiting evangelist) preaches often about the pure heart; which causes Jesus Christ sorrow & should take us to our knees. We need a HOLY awakening! – 3/20/23

OT/NT differences – Several OT characters (Job & Abraham to name only two) were wealthy. Christ – the main Being of the NT had nowhere to lay His head: He preached from a Borrowed boat, rode a Borrowed burro, & was buried in a Borrowed tomb. Peter & those 1^st generation followers were not rich. Paul, Barnabas & others (on the 2^nd tier, if you will) aren’t recorded as having great possessions. Possessions are a mark of God’s blessing in the OT. That mark is missing in the NT.  – February 2023

And I admire men & women who are makers, i.e. they “create” something of value, something of lasting worth, something which benefits them &/or their fellowman. God made man in His image. When you love someone it gives you pleasure to do something for them. This is also true for Christians pleasing God. If one is a sinner, does it make them happy to do what makes God unhappy? (It seems it may.) or [Perhaps this is a dividing line between the sinner/backslider & the apostate.] That displeasing God does not delight the sinner (he puts what he wants to do – or “can’t keep from doing” ahead of God is not thrilled thereby to hurt God whereas the apostate delights to make God angry. – 3/7/23

Where is YOUR prayer closet? [You do have one, don’t you?] Is it comfortable? Too comfortable (you fall asleep praying)? Perhaps you should move your praying-place to where you cannot see x? Should you find a locality where the neighbor’s noise is unable to reach you? Move your place of Private devotion rather than have your devotion to Christ diluted. He is worth you FULL attention. As a last resort buy a pair of ear protectors to muffle out the world – so you can better hear from God. – 3/18/23

PHONE. [C.] If you aren’t careful The Servant will rule you, instead of you ruling it. Phone rings – people answer. They pretty well Obey it. They should be listening to Dad or Mom – instead they’re listing / watching their Servant/Master. They should be hearing what their Husband/Wife is saying but they’re more interested in what Servant/Master is telling them. Go to waiting rooms, stand in lines & watch slaves *bowing to their Master. [BTW *you’ll have to stop looking at YOUR phone to see them.] March 2023

REVIVAL [C.] Question – do evangelical & “holiness” churches want to see hardened sinners saved? Do we desire that youth (& some not so young) move up to being entirely sanctified? or [bear with me – – – this is a bit strong] or do we JUST wish to fulfill the *expectation for spring/fall “revivals”? Do our churches need an awakening or, OR will a few sermonetts & Special Singers with toe-tapping “music” do? Praying AND Obeying is the need of our day – whether we’re willing to admit it or not. – 3/14/22

ACTING  [C.] “But – but – Bryan don’t you understand that acting (stage & movies) is a part of American life?” I do to a small extent but not as much as some of you, who’re addicted to TV. We should not accept *Playing *Acting *Pretending as normal for ANY adult – children do this. Please never say so-n-so is a good “actor.” Acting is a Farce. It’s False. A kid who does well in a church/school play may enter the dark world of hollywood/disney & be eternally LOST. Don’t go to ANY plays. Run from ALL acting. – 3/16/23

People sometimes speak of the Big Picture. Some may think they KNOW what the Big Picture is but have only glimpsed a small “corner” of it. Others see/know more about the Big Picture but still fail at grasping reality. There is truly only one Big Pic & that’s what God sees – He sees it e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y. God’s holy people are the sole humans (on earth) who come anywhere close to seeing the Big Pic & I have no doubt He limits what saints can see – we could not handle any thing near an unedited view. – 3/17/23

PHONE. [B.] Along came men (or companies of men) who made phone improvements. At least they called them such. And – – – for a while most of us agreed. Gradually the servant became The Servant. The phone bill became a monthly necessity. The place the phone played in life – life of the family, life of society, life of banking, etc. increased. Then (I’m an old man) there was “talk” of a phone upon which you could SEE the person to which you were speaking. The Servant became more Important. – 3/10/23

ACTING  [B – con’t.] Parents please see acting is PLAYING. [Yes, I know baseball PLAYERS are playing also – that’s a separate subject.] A good parent tries to teach their child how to WORK. Working suggests making an object, or re-making it, or doing a chore people need done. Can your child make a little money doing this? Yes – hopefully. But it’s a poor Dad, a pitiful Mom who only wants their child to make money. Teach them being a Christian is FIRST & being a good worker is SECOND! – 3/13/23

Paradise

The wonderful, great Master in the sky

REVIVAL [B.] Unlike Finney & Nash, moderns bring in a preacher & singer (not a Pray-er). Truth be known, no Special singers touch souls more (inside four walls or listening, on nice-weather nights, down a street) than a blessed CONGREGATION. Anointed congregations “lifting the roof” in “Love Divine” (C.Wesley), “At the Cross” (I.Watts), or “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” (M.Luther) & others help prepare hearts for powerful prayer sessions & the delivery of God’s Word by His man-of-the-hour. – 3/14/23

A “government virus,” attempts to disrupt food supplies, huge WDC corruption, bank “failures” (& more) clamor for attention (& we should be a little aware of them.) But Jesus Christ said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me”(Joh 12.32). May God help me, may God help you, in word & deed to LIFT UP our Lord & His Wonderful Word. People need to see hope in this dark hour – their only hope of HOPE is our Lord. “O God, may your Light be seen in me.” – 3/16/23
