 Simons Menno died on this date 1/31/1561, at Wustenfeld, Holstein, Netherlands.  He authored Foundations of Christian Doctrine (1539).  Menno was born 1496(?) at Witmarsum, Friesland, Netherlands      

A couple quotes are:

“The regenerated do not go to war, nor engage in strife. They are the children of peace who have beaten their swords into…”

“I examined the scriptures diligently,” Menno wrote in his autobiographical Departure from the Papacy, “and pondered them earnestly, but could find no report of infant baptism.”

11/12 Menno Simons, 1556, a well-kown Dutch reformer is said to have written the above in a letter dated 11/12/1556.  He was born 1496(?) in Friesland and passed from this life 1/31/1561 at Holstein.
