1Ch 16.35 +

Nov 4 – 1Ch 16.35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give THANKS to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

Proud

13 of 47 “…Give ear; be not PROUD: for the LORD hath spoken”(Jer 13.15)

Psa 119.51 The PROUD have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.

“A Christian is not the kind of optimist who overlooks reality.”

– G R French, sermon 5/6/01

Do you (do I) pray Biblically? The expression “pray ye” only occurs 6 times (all in the NT). 2 of these are:

“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.” (Mat 9.38)

“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.” (Luk 10.2)

Are you praying that He will send forth your children? Your grandchildren? -11/2/19

MEASURED THINGS

In the beginning – of measured things,

Before the clock of time was wound,

It was know that man would sin,

And a remedy had to be found.

After a period of loving thought,

It was decided by the Great Three-In-One,

That God would send man a Gift –

His Fellow Creator, Partner, and Son.

“Success is the progressive fulfillment of the will of God for your life.”

– G R French, sermon 1/17/00

One or more of the yrs I tried to teach biology I started the 1st day by asking students to write a definition of “life.” They struggled (rightly so) because life is impossible to define in a secular way. Christ is “…Life” (Joh 14.6). “…By him all things consist”(Col 1.17). And “…In him we live & move & have our being…” (Act 17.28). If plants & animals have life because of & in Him, how-much-more does man? And – – – if physical man, how-much-more do we have Spiritual Life because of Jesus Christ? – 11/3/19

Eph 5.19

“…Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”

“Faith will annihilate fret or fret will annihilate faith.”

– C W Ruth, /Bible Readings/

Hymn singing, unaccompanied with musical instrument(s), has a sweetness all-its-own. This sweetness can be enhanced if it’s in four part harmony. This can be true even if the singers are sinners, but the greatest possible music on earth is produced by singers who know the truth of the hymns, who’ve weep over these truths, who’ve seen God move in a way similar to what the hymn writer wrote. That, brothers & sisters is what hymns are really about – Praise FROM a child, Praise TO the Heavenly Father. – 11/4/19

“…Let me say most emphatically every soul that enters this experience [holiness]

will have its wilderness…”

– C W Ruth, /Bible Readings/
